Energy Levels After WLS

Soooo I didn’t think of it until yesterday but I was on 3 blood pressure meds before surgery and went down to half of one after. I checked my bp today and it was 128/78 so I’m going completely off of the last one to see if that helps.

I hope you aren't reducing medications without dr. approval or based on one reading? I'm reducing slowly per Dr. instructions. Taking two weeks worth of am and pm readings then reporting into her before we reduce further.

This is something that my doctor told me was okay to do! My surgeon had me stop taking 2/3 bp meds right before surgery and I pretty much have to self monitor now. Of course, I call my dr with my bp readings, but my surgeons office didn’t do much with medication monitoring.

That is one of the best things that happened to me once I lost weight --- finally dumping one of my blood pressure medicine. Even WITH my blood pressure medicine - sometimes it would still be a little high prior to surgery.

I won't be completely free of them because I use one of them for Migraine prevention (propranolol), but at least I got the other one knocked out.

Congratulations! It is such a freeing feeling - not having to take that pill.

Yes! It is so awesome to be off of most medications. I’ll take Vitamins over them any day! And I feel you on the mental energy. 2020 period has been draining

Like you, my energy did not increase after surgery. I gave never been a high energy person and was really hoping for a boost. I did notice that over the course of the first year my stamina increased, so I was grateful for that. Now, 4 years later, at the age of 68, my energy has improved slightly. Blood work has always been spot on, so I just accept this as part of who I am, and decide to be grateful for what I have.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
