banded Oct. 3,2007

Recommended Posts

I know where you are coming from! I did well pre-op and even for five weeks afterwards but have come to a virtual standstill!

I was taking Aleve, went to an NSAID, and finally had to have a steroid injection in one knee in August before surgery. Now I don't take any meds and both knees and my hands are stiff and sore.

I DID go back to Curves last week and this week went back to the YMCA twice--that's always been good for me--exercise.

Good luck to you--it'll come off--it'll just take us a little longer...:girl_hug:

I was banded Oct 4. Have done very well. Lost 25 pounds before I was banded and another 20 afterward, but now I find myself more hungery and even gained a pound over Thanksgiving. I find I can eat more and do not feel full. I have to keep reminding myself to not eat more than a cup of food. I fear my cup is getting bigger. I have an Dr. appointment next week. Hopefully my first fill!

Chase, I went for my first fill on November 16 but when the surgeon asked if I'd been hungry, looking for food, I really didn't think so. So my first fill was 1/2 cc.

My second was scheduled for December 28, but I've already changed it back to December 21st. I too gained a pound (1.4 # to be exact!) over Thanksgiving and I NEED that restriction over the Christmas holiday!

I too find that I am more hungry but limit my intake--I often wonder if it's just "head hunger" or real stomach hunger! I just try to drink more in between meals.

Good to find someone banded around my time with the same issues...:girl_hug:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
