So I should be pretty pleased, I've gone from 249 on surgery date to 233 since July 16th. But yesterday, I felt like back to square one. My incisions were itching, my left shoulder was aching and my back. It was so bad I got out the heating pad. I really don't feel any different after taking the narcotics, I even added a Tylonel. But anyways, I got through the day. It didn't help that something I ate gave me diarrhea, and today I'm trying to figure out what it was. I had pudding, oikos, and tonkotsu broth. I stayed in my room all day binging tv,, it was pretty depressing. Today, I need to go do something and get out of the house. This covid, isn't helping. Extreme Cabin Fever due to me recovering and covid. Sorry for the vent.

It sounds like you're doing good. I get an upset stomach at least once a week. I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't eat. Best of luck and stay positive.

You will figure out what your body likes.
I know since July 8 surgery for me I can drink plenty of fluids and Protein Drinks but some smells just are revolting like broccoli I don't think I can ever eat it again. I'm on puree foods and in a few days I'll be bumped up to week 3. More variety. Will be nice

Congrats on your weight loss so far.

The itching at your incision sites means they are healing - it’s the nerve endings that were cut twitching. The left shoulder pain is possibly still from the gas they inflated your abdomen with during surgery. It can take time for your body to expel it.

Go for short walks every day slowly increasing your speed & distance as you feel stronger. It will help with the cabin fever & also with the gas pain.

Did the pudding have any dairy in it? Lactose can be a problem post surgery & will cause diarrhoea. Don’t what was worse in the first 6 months - the Constipation or the diarrhoea.

There’s a lot of learning about what your tummy will & won’t tolerate in the first few months. Sometimes what you eat one day without problem will upset you the next. Sometimes the taste, texture or smell can turn you off. Just take your time.

Goid luck.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
