23 Days Post Op-Only 9lb Lost

Recommended Posts

I have been following this thread. I am two weeks post-op RNY. I lost 15 pounds on pre-op diet and 5 since surgery. It is definitely disheartening. I can only get in about 500 calories per day at this point as I feel quite a bit of restriction. I am around 60 G Protein per day and mostly hit 64 oz of Water. I am also walking 30 + minutes per day and generally get well over 7000 steps per day. I feel much more energetic than I did pre-surgery, but really want to see that number on the scale move too. Arggg!

Thank you all! Trying to stay encouraged. Will hit 30 days tomorrow and down 11 pounds. Thankfully, no complications and healed perfectly. Weight day of surgery was 282. After surgery, 290 (water/fluid weight). My weight fluctuated between 273-272 for about 11 days and now I’ve been fluctuating between 271-270 for a few days. I’ve increased my Water and calories as my nutritionist insist I’m not eating enough. I agree with her. I Put the scale up and will revisit my numbers next Sunday😢

We are similar. I had surgery 7-18-20. Weight 264, 2 days later released from hospital and weighed 275. It’s been a month and I’ve only lost 10 lbs from surgery weight. No cheAting very strict but not too much exercise due to rough surgery . I’m older at 55 so perhaps that’s reason.

Sorry to hear your experiencing the dreaded stall. It stinks. Good news is my weight is decreasing steadily, about 2 pounds a week. I never had the big weight loss right after surgery. Guess my body said heck no, and is holding on for dear life..lol

I weigh myself every Monday - NEVER daily because our bodies change daily from a variety of factors. Weighing everyday can really do a number on your psyche and motivation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
