The time has come and tomorrow is the big day. I’m not gonna lie I am nervous. I am not so much worried about the procedure as I am about the pain after. I am also having a hiatal hernia repairs at the same time.

although pain is all across the board, a majority of us have little to no pain with WLS. I'm not sure how the hiatal hernia would affect that, though, since I didn't have one of those, fortunately..

I also had to have a hiatal hernia repair. I had a band removed and RNY also. Other than some discomfort in my shoulder, the pain wasn't bad at all. As soon as you can, get up and start walking to help alleviate it. Don't be shy about requesting pain medicine also, as long as you stay on top of the pain it will be minimal. If you try to "tough it out", it's harder to get rid of pain than it is to prevent it.

Good luck, you got this! See you on the other side!

I am now about 3 weeks post op and feeling great. The pain right after surgery was not bad at all. I am down about 22 lbs and feeling good.

I'm so glad you were able to get this done when you did. I have seen more than one post from someone from FL that had their surgery postponed because of the 'rona. Phew!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
