Can your pouch stretch?

Hi

I had my bypass in march this year but due to covid 19 i haven't had any follow up appointments so none of my worries/concerns have been talked through. One of my main worries is streching my new pouch. Does anyone know how much extra food will stretch it? I don't over eat like before but in the evenings i seem to get really hungry......please tell mre I'm not alone in this? Thank you in advance.

Don't stress for me I couldn't eat much at all for months even got sick a few times from eating to quick but now I can eat almost anything without any issues just smaller portions but normal not like a rabbit... I don't think it is stretching but it's just your body and mind getting used to needing more volume than before

Your stomach is still a muscle. It will stretch & it will go back. This is how the Surgon explained it to me.

My surgeon's PA also said you couldn't really stretch it back out. She said that people who regain a lot of weight are usually drinking lots of extra calories, or "eating around the pouch" (what when I had a lap band we called "slider foods") I hope she's right--I've been afraid to up my amount of food in one sitting for fear of stretching my pouch.

I don't think pouches can stretch much, but the stoma can. But I think it takes some pretty chronic overeating to stretch that out. My surgeon said most people who gain weight do it through 1) grazing or 2) not following the drinking after eating rule. Also, as the above poster says, drinking your calories can be dangerous, since they go right through the pouch...
