my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

Recommended Posts

i went to the doc yesterday for my first fill. i had regained all but 4 ounces of my pre op weight back. (most of it is water). they told me to sip Water and tell them when i could feel it sitting there. well, i haven't had to sip anything since my surgery. not even right after. i could drink a 8 ounce glass of water in 5 seconds with no problems.

so about 50 sips later (literally), and growing bored of the "sip" "wait", "ok, what do you feel?" "-nothing", "ok..sip"..lol. she put a lot in there and i took a sip, nothing, another sip, nothing, another sip, HOLY COW I THOUGHT MY CHEST WAS GOING TO BURST APART!!! Out of nowhere came this horrible burning pressure. awful... so, she took a little out and we went through it again.

I GOT 6.5 CC'S!!!!

needless to say, i have to sip now. this is awesome. this thing actually works. it just took me 30 minutes to drink a smoothie. the day after surgery, i could have drank 3 in 10 minutes or less if i wanted. i hope it stays this way.

how has been for most of you so far, did you notice the fill for the first couple of days, and then it just goes away? or did you notice anything at all? i hope it stays like this, but i must admit i am a little afraid to eat. we'll see how that goes in another 36 hours...and counting..lol.

I got 3 cc's in my first fill - I was STARVING the next day. I guess my doctor likes to take it slow.

I'm going this afternoon for my second fill. I'm going to complain that I'm hungry all the time, which is the truth!!

I'm hoping the scale shows a loss....but I am not expecting one. In the midst of being hungry all the time, I also quit smoking. Double whammie!!

that is a good amount for your first fill! I hope you do ok with eating when the time comes. I had my first fill on MOnday and got 5cc's in my band right now. I feel a little like there is an air bubble in my chest/throat area. I am drinking and eatingmuch slower now, thank goodness. Before, I ate anything and everything, even pizza! Yikes.

Also, since my fill on MOnday, I have lost about 4 or 5 pounds! This is due to the 48 hours of liquids, but, if we lose more than 2 pounds per week, they wont give anymore fills...darnnit.

Oh well, I am happy with losing what I am losing.

Good luck and let's hope that we dont gain over the holidays.

so, you have good restriction, too!! i can't believe it, i'm really honestly shocked. i had never felt it before. i was thinking that i had made a mistake and that it was going to fall back on me and willpower, boy was i wrong. i know that feeling it got yesterday when the Water was stuck, was horrible. i will avoid getting that again.

I had my 1st fill yesterday and they kept asking me what I feel, I don't know ! what am I suppose to feel! I felt the cold in my throat but no pain in my chest like when something is stuck. He put in 4cc. He went to withdrawl some and could not draw back any. Said there may be a kink in the tubing, Great. He said not to worry just yet, we'll see how the fill next month goes, maybe it will straightenout by then.

Anyone else have this problem?

Couple of questions: do all of you have the 10cc band? Secondly, were your first fills done with fluoroscopy?

I had my first fill today and the doctor put in 1.7 cc. with a 4 cc band. He used fluoroscopy and the two of us watched first the barium and then Water go down. He didn't really ask me about it, because we could both see what was happening.

My husband has a 10 cc band, and he got 4 cc in his first fill today. He is feeling a lot of restriction just with a sip of Water.< /p>

I have he AP small which holds 10-14 cc. Mine was not done under flouroscopy, I wish it was, my doctor is more conservative. Next time if there is still an issue we'll check it out by flouro.

The fluoroscopy makes it interesting, especially for the first fill. I could see the band, the port, and the Fluid going down through. My doctor said he fills between .5 and 1.8 for the first fill in my size band, so I am praying I have enough restriction for at least the next couple of months. By the way, I was amazed at how easy it was for him to do the fill, as well as how pain free it was for me.

Good timing on this topic. I get my first fill tomorrow morning. I really have no idea what to expect, except that it'll be harder for me to eat and drink now. I don't think my Dr uses any kind of flouroscope since he's seeing his patients in a fitness center.

After reading a couple of the posts, I'm a little worried about kinks in the tubing and getting too much saline, but so far I haven't had any of the other unfortunate events that I've read about, so I'm optimistic it will all go fine.

I did plan to take the rest of the day off work, just in case I don't feel well. Did the rest of you go to work the same day as your fill? I just don't want to have any incidents at work. Did all of you have to go back on liquids too? Just curious

i would have went back to work, but my appointment was at 3:30 in Little Rock. I only live 20 miles from the hospital, BUT, when you get out at 4:00 traffic is already backed up. i didn't make it back into town until after my office had closed, and i didn't want to go in.

do you feel bad? i wouldn't think so, they are doing anything to you that should make you feel bad. when they first put the saline in my stomach felt a little crampy (which was really weird) and my port is still sore, but i felt fine. my doctor says we have to go on liquids for 48 hours, then soft foods for 48 hours, then regular foods after your first fill.

i have an apl band, that also holds 10 cc's. i asked the nurse about it, because i assumed i only had 3.5 cc's left until it was full. well, it turns out that the 10 cc's apparantly is not a definition as to how much the thing can hold. she said my band is "said" to explode-pop would probably be a better word- at 500 cc's. WOW!

i haven't eaten anything yet. at 4 p.m. today i can go to softs, so i will probably have fish and potatoes for dinner.

I have only had one fill, my dr is very conservative..2cc's in a band that holds 8-10cc's. My second fill is december 18th. For my first fill I went right to work afterwards, no pain. The procedure did not hurt at all. Not much restriction after the first few days (because of swelling) so until fills #2 and #3, It's all pretty much up to me. Vanessa

I am sooo jealous... my first fill was only 1cc.

It worked for about 1 sec... now nothing like it wasn't even done. And they said if I lose 4lbs before I go back again (not next week but the week after) then they won't do another fill.

It sucks! I still am hungry all the time but at the same time I feel this lump in my throat constantly. The only time I DON'T feel the lump in my throat is when I have food in my stomach. Figure that one out.

Wish I could have got a bunch of cc's to put me at the restriction point... although - i guess it is a catch 22 for me because there are some foods that I definitely CAN NOT EAT at all without being in pain.

But the pizza rolls I had today - I was able to eat 20 (twenty) before I felt anything .. again figure that one out.

pizza ROLLS-OMG THAT SOUND SOOOOO GOOOD!!!! yesterday they had a pizza party at work. i usually get an hour for lunch but lately have only been taking 30 minutes. but, yesterday i had a Migraine and i didn't feel like driving anywhere, so i sat at the table with all of the pizza's and had gatorade (i just got the file...on liquids). i will admit that my 48 hours was due to be up in 2 hours, so i did sample some of the loose topping in the box. i ate probably 3 canadian bacon, one little piece of sausage, and some cheese (all clumped together, it had fallen off of a pizza), and i swear it filled me up.

we'll see, though, i haven't been doing good so far today, i've only had fudgesicles (don't have anything good for Breakfast that is soft).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
