People on the Biggest Looser make me sick

Recommended Posts

I'm just tired of sitting here watching these people and gaining respect for these people then i hear thing like i did it the right way ... without surgery or anything.

Wtf is wrong with these people last time i checked thats not real and if it wasn't for that damn show you would be in the same boat as the rest of us.

they didn't have t wait thought the

plateaus that sometimes take months they are spoon fed a diet and like a horse to Water lead through their workout day in and day out for 100 days ... seriously don't you people have jobs last time i checked if i took a 100 day vaca i wont have a job when i get back .... not to mention that i would be broke.

those lucky pricks should just be happy... not talking about how they did it the right way. its bullshit.

ahhh i feel better now:ranger:

I've only seen them bring back a handful of former contestants. Have all of those people kept the weight off? I seriously doubt it.

To me, my band is less of a weight loss tool and more of a weight maintenance tool. There are lots of ways to lose weight and I've already done a lot of them, some with success and some without. But I've never been successful at keeping it off for more than a year. I'm banking on the band helping me keep it off.

I don't know why people don't understand the difference between losing weight and keeping it off!

I agree with you guy's, making the decision to have the band is not easy. I applaud all those who have struggled through this process.

Deciding to have surgery and sticking to the diet says a lot about the mindset and committment we all have to loosing the weight.

While I'm not saying the show doesn't help them loose weight, how many of us can afford to take the time off from work, pay for a personal trainer and then maintain that level.

This band is for life and I'm bound and determined to make it work, as mentioned it's a tool to be used. Whatever works for the individual is the right way.

Oh, I love the show, but I totally agree with you about the statements! For one thing, they are being trained 6 - 8 hours a day, in the "real world" you can't have that. Their job is working out, in the "real world" you have to work at a real job. So they get one on one attention and cannot say that others aren't a success because "they had surgery", etc. I just think so many people have been trained and taught that "surgery" is the easy way out. Total BS!

Anyhow, I'm a huge fan of the show, but I wish they would focus more on nutrition for Long term Weight loss, they do show some but I wish they went more indeph about it.

Also, most do keep their weight off after the show, HOWEVER, they do gain some back, but not all. The reason is they are no longer able to workout 8 hours a day. And for the show,to win, they lose as much as they can when they go home - and I'm sure they are "starving themselves" too in order to win that prize. So after the prize is given, they go back to eating healthy and usually put on a few pounds. I saw a bunch of former contestants on Larry King Live, they were saying this.

I remember seeing a former contestant Andrea come back and visit some of the new Biggest Loser contestants and she had gained weight, but still looked good, just heavier then she was.

One of the reasons I did not tell people about my WLS is because of the "idea" that I was taking the easy road. I just didn't want to hear it or have to argue my decision with people.

Having the WLS is not easy, its actually hard, but I love it and am so happy with my decision and have absolutely no regrets!

I LOVE the show, but I have seen a few of the old contestants and some have gained a noticeable amount back.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
