Best thing for scars?

Recommended Posts

Hey y’all,

What did you use for your scars to decrease their appearance and help them heal more? I used scar away for a scar on my cheek in the past but it hasn’t been the best thing. I definitely don’t want noticeable scars when I’m finally able to wear a bikini in a few months!

I used Mederma. My scars were small and now they are almost invisible.

Thanks guys! I’ll check out Mederma. My scars are little too but I want to minimize them even more.

I really didn't have any after bariatric surgery - but I had a lot of plastic surgery (still do...). I used ScarAway (a silicone gel)

I'm using Mederma Advanced Scar Gel, it worked in the past. Also, good old fashioned Aloe Vera Gel fresh out of the plant is a great healer. I'm going to use that after I'm finished with the Mederma.

The scars will mostly disappear over time - the scars I had from my first surgery are pretty invisible but I think if I got a tan they would probably show up. I’ve only ever used Vitamin E cream on my scars as it’s the only thing I can get with any regularity here in Japan.

I haven't used anything on mine yet and they have really faded. The only one that is really noticeable is the one in my belly button, it is still really red. In the past I used Mederma also.

The only thing I used on my scars was BioOil. I wasn't concerned with scars. I figured they would pale in comparison with my stretch marks, but I did want the skin as supple as possible and BioOil does that for me. I still use it...All Over!

But, if you ARE concerned with scars, I occasionally work with burn patients and we recommend silicone sheets or strips for their burns. Here's a link on Amazon, but any brand will do: Aroamas Professional Silicone Scar Sheets

BioOil is amazing as well, I like the way it makes my skin feel and the hydration it provides.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
