When does a phase start/end?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 2/21. I had my first post-op appointment with my surgeon on 2/27, where he told me the following day I could start on purees for 2 weeks and then I could move on to soft foods for 1 week and then be on regular solids following that. I feel like my confusion has stemmed from my nutritionists confusion on where I was in the phases. She kept counting one week less than I would. I'm 4 week post-op tomorrow but will be starting on week 5 solids as far as phases goes. Is this confusing to anyone else or just me? lol

It is confusing. I was supposed to be on soft foods/purée starting my 3rd week per my nutritionist and my surgeon’s paperwork, but at one week my surgeon said I could move to full liquids and start adding in soft foods slowly. Wait...what???
Lol, so for me...I listened to my surgeon and my body. I started adding in soft foods around day 9, I think. My body wanted something more substantial than just liquids. It was different than a craving for something, it’s like I needed it. Good luck for both of us figuring this out. 😂

Your tummy will let you know if you are ready, I believe. But I’m still new at this so there’s that. 😂😂

I felt like I was literally going to faint during the last week of full liquids, I added in a few pureed/soft foods in conjunction with the full liquids and immediately felt better. I don't want you to deviate from your plan, I shared this information to say that my body needed a little bit more at that point in my journey. I would also consult with your bariatric team to determine whether or not you are ready.

Ariel (my stomach) loves refried Beans and a scrambled egg. Not cooked together, in separate meals. Protein is our friend. The cream Soups were delicious, but didn't givr me the substance and nutrients that I needed. I'm still drinking Protein Shakes, I only had my procedure on 3/3/20.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
