y Guys! Im 2 weeks post op and finally in my soft foods phase (YAY!) but I can barely eat 1 oz before I feel sorta wiped out. Also everything I eat or drink gives me gas. I'm only eating what is on the list - tuna, yogurt, applesauce, Premier Protein drinks, Water. Just looking for some suggestions and advice on how you guys navigated this phase. I really want to just EAT! Lol! I literally cant eat till satisfied and it's getting a tad bit frustrating. Any encouragement is welcome!

I promise it gets better!! Just keep at it, keep walking!

For soft foods, I loved refried Beans with a little cheese and sour cream. You can Google buffalo chicken puree, that's yummy too. Or ricotta bake. I had trouble with creamy Soups because they went through too quickly and I got the sweats and nauseous but I could do pureed veggie Soup or Tomato Soup.< br>
I'm 7 weeks out and eating normal food. It feels like it will never happen but it does! I promise. (Still can't do chicken breast but love me some chicken thighs!).

I'm 6 weeks out from post op and I am still on soft foods, and I am so burnt out and don't know what to eat. I have wasted soooooo much money and food. I cannot eat any tomatoe base anything due to my reflux, eggs sour my tummy as well as avocado

I am so frustrated does anyone have any suggest? Also, what is the process to eating food again. Did you just jump back in, or what was your gradual process to eating regular food again?😔

I'm honestly surprised you're still on soft foods at 6 weeks. I had a progression plan over the six weeks to move me to regular foods and I can eat most anything now (7 weeks) and have been on solid foods since week 4.

I know every surgeon's and nutritionist is different.

I can't do eggs either so I feel ya. I eat a lot of veggies, chicken thighs, fish

Thanks. Was it hard at first trying to eat regular food?

Y’all are preaching to the choir! I’m so hungry and not satisfied with eating soft foods! Ugh! It’s so frustrating. Everything I try so far is tolerable. I had hard-boiled eggs today and that is the most full I’ve felt since the first few days after surgery. And I’m having issues with how fast I eat. I eat fast and always have and I’m trying to be more conscious of it. I noticed it today as I was scarring down my eggs. It was only uncomfortable for a moment and I was ready for another egg. Smh.

As soon as I can go to the grocery store again, I’m gonna try that ricotta bake tho.

I had my sleeve surgery on 3/4/20 . My doctor ok’d me on 3/12/20 to move to puréed/ soft food. Happy that I got to move on from just liquids. But I do find it hard to eat slow.. maybe because I’m hungry .. lol..
went to the store today and they were out of sugar free popsicles, and toilet paper. Lol.
So I got the “No Sugar Added Fudgsicle” my question is , Should I not be eating those ? 1 popsicle has 2 grams of sugar.
They tasted so good.. Any thoughts??

I've personally never had an issue with sugar post op. You could try a little and take it slow.

I’ve been eating no sugar added fruit popsicles like crazy and it hasn’t affected me negatively. I would say enjoy!

Thanks luv! I'm going to definitely try the buffalo chicken puree. I've never been a fan of refried beans.

What about avocado with some chili lime (tajin)?

I also loved garlic mashed cauliflower!

I can eat turkey sausage; I either cut it up and cook it with some diced tomatoes and spinach, or open the sausage and cook it like crumbles. I've done that with rice cauliflower, garlic and Cajun spice, and also with diced tomatoes, Italian spices and baked a spaghetti squash. I use either a tsp of fresh grated parmesan cheese, or a tablespoon of low fat shredded cheddar. It's pretty high in Protein.

I have brought a couple of slices of deli turkey with some low fat shredded cheese to work for lunch; just make a little roll up. Chew, chew, chew. 2 slices fills me up nicely. I've had some sugar free apple sauce with that.

I've been making little one egg omelets; I use one egg and 3 tbl of egg beaters (=1 egg white); I fill it with spinach, some Dash, and a little part skim mozzarella or the low fat cheddar. I have new little plates, and it fills it up. I usually can't eat it all.

I bought some pre-made, pre-cooked turkey meatballs; I had to cook them in the tomatoes at first to get them soft enough; tonight I just baked come and had it on a bed of very well cooked broccoli. My husband likes them, so I made him a little Pasta with oil and garlic. He's been a sport with all the mushy vegetables.

I also love fish; I have baked salmon with no fat greek yoghurt and Cajun spices or lemon and garlic. Heat a non-stick pan with a generous coating of cooking spray; cook skin side down for a minute or 2; then place in a baking dish, brush the top of the filets with the seasoned yoghurt; bake at 400 for about 20 minutes. Nice and moist.

I've also made tilapia; thin tilapia cooks in minutes; fry with cooking oil; then make a "sauce" with the no fat greek yoghurt; I did lemon and garlic. Yummy. Nice with cauliflower rice.

Tomorrow I am making some split pea Soup. I'll use that for lunches next week. I am hoping I can "hide" some Protein Powder in the soup to get some protein bang.

Also easy; Rotisserie chicken! I make chicken salad with the left overs; I have been using mayo made with olive oil; half the calories, and I like the taste. And of course good old tuna salad; lots of protein!

I figure if I can get a little variety I am less likely to loose my mind! And less likely to sabotage things.

These suggestions make me want to be more adventurous in the kitchen. Guess I'll have to take my chances at the supermarket again. I went two days ago and it was a nuthouse. All the meats were gone...smh.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
