FINALLY!!!

Cross your fingers for me!

Had a revision date on 3/18 that was cancelled/postponed on 3/16, then moved to 4/29, which was cancelled/postponed on 3/29, received the phone call today that emergency surgeries, elective, my surgeon was informed he has 2 dates in May he can perform ... So I am scheduled for 5/27, hopefully the Governor won't change things in my state - New York.

I have to start my 2 week liquid tomorrow, eeeeew and eeeeek! didn't expect this at all..

I'm being revised from Sleeve in 2015 to bypass now. I have been suffering horrendous heartburn and vomitting for a year now - was fine in the beginning, day by day, it's worse and worse - had to double up on my medicine - Protonix - have had so many tests it's ridiculous. I can't take much more - also having an umbilical hernia done too while I'm under ...I don't know what to expect... I hope this works and gets rid of the heartburn ... something has to give!!! I hope they don't cancel on me again... esp after doing another liquid diet.

I hope I remember what my liquid diet should be ..

Anyone been sleeve to bypass - how did you find it?

:) thanks!!!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Wow! I am so happy and excited for you. I wish you the very best. I think this will work great and relieve your pain. Fingers crossed. Keep us updated so we know how you are doing. 🍀🍀

Hi Cia2020! I wondered what happened to my surgery twin! Sorry about your postponed surgery. Mine was too rescheduled. I went in for my pre-admit. I asked the nurse had the hospital started rescheduling "elective" surgeries yet? She said no. I was hoping to scape by since my hospital I work for was shutting down on 4/1. Nope 10 minutes after I arrived home, I got the call. It's been rescheduled 2x. Finally my new date is May 21. Just fyi..we all maybe subject to Corona testing. I have to get mine 48 hours before surgery. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. All the best everyone!

Yay! Awesome for you, you're rescheduled for a week ahead of me, and only have to do a week of a diet? I wanna have your program, lol.

I personally wish I had to do a week lol

I have to get COVID tested too.
be my luck haha I’ll be positive.

I had the antibody test done and I’m negative. My daughter was fully positive for the antibodies. She must have had it and been non symptomatic

Don't dismay because my surgery has just been confirmed for the month of June and it was only delayed for a month. Best wishes to all!

My surgery was scheduled for May 18th and yesterday an hour before my preop appointment they called and canceled my surgery. I was very frustrated and upset. I just received a call and they rescheduled me for July 22nd. I'm really hoping this date sticks. I am happy for everyone that has received their new dates and are able to get their surgeries now.

@Andrews2018 yesterday they said that due to next week being the peak of the virus in California the Hospital is not allowing surgeries (unless it is an emergency) to make sure they have enough PPE. When I received the call today to reschedule for July they stated that my Doctor has not performed any surgeries in two months. I am just a bit frustrated they didn't relay any of this information sooner and literally called an hour before my preop. Well at least now I have two more months to better prepare myself.

@Andrews2018 to answer your question I live in Fresno where the population is about 800-900K and we have 984 confirmed cases. We are definitely not getting worse around here. I know they are just being cautious.

I’m in NY. they are opening slowly for electives as emergencies. My surgeon didn’t perform anything either... and he is only doing two day this month. I got lucky as I’m an emergency due to be revised and my hernia.

@Amanda0911 gotcha. When mine was cancelled for April 20th I felt the same way. I was a little depressed and started eating badly. Then I thought like you did and just better prepared myself, and I was so grateful for that extra time! Started eating better also lol I'm scheduled for June 3rd. Good luck to you!

I’m going in this Friday, the 15th for gastric bypass. I’m super nervous and struggling with this liver shrink diet. Initially scheduled for April 27th, the quarantine made me crave everything ever eaten by man, so it made it harder after I started the liver shrink then got rescheduled. Congratulations to all those with dates, and those without, I’m sure they’ll be getting you in before too long. Our hospitals sent out emails acknowledging that whether it’s elective or not, these surgeries are needed and our health is at risk the longer that they’re put off, so hopefully everyone looks at it that way and gets everyone in. Best of luck!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
