Serious Weight Lifting and Eatting

Recommended Posts

How do you manage to get the protien you need to maintain protien and calorie needs. I am suppose to eat 6 meals per day and I have a hard time eatting as I want to eat. I have not had a fill in over a year and just can't get the food in unless it is a protien drink.

Frankly, I am ready to get a total unfill. I pb all the time when I try to eat meat and vegies..

Suggestions?

Alice:

Your question came in on the exercise forum. You may want to repost it under a different heading to get more responses.

If you're pb'ing all the time with nutritious food you probably need to take smaller bites, chew like crazy, and take more time between bites. I bought a few one-minute timers - like an hourglass, only one minute. I wait after each bite until all of the sand goes through because I find that if I eat too fast I pb and slime too.

Does the surgeon that you go to have a nutritionist as part of the lapband process? You might want to make an appointment with them.

I just had my second fill and noticed that I'm really alot tighter in the morning now. So, I have to drink my coffee slowly too now. I usually have oatmeal about an hour after I finish with morning coffee. As far as lunch goes, I buy whatever Protein bar I can find on sale at the supermarket. I cut it with a sharp knife into very small pieces and use my timer to make sure I don't eat too fast. I try to eat a little bit of fruit with the Protein Bar, but sometimes I can't eat even the entire Protein Bar, sometimes I can. At supper I usually eat alone - daughter at college. I eat alot of Smart One's frozen dinners. I really like them, and it's hardly worth cooking for one person. For a tv-time snack I usually have popcorn or a sf popsicle or something like that.

If you are pb'ing all the time your esophogus may be irritated. You might want to do liquids only for a day or two then try introducing solids slowly.

Good luck, and keep reading on this website for alot of good ideas. I'm not as experienced as most of the bandsters, so please take a look at what they suggest.

Take care.

Sue

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
