Hello fellow Feb. 2020 weight loss peeps. Since it’s now March and we’ve all had our surgeries, I thought it would be nice to start a post-op thread. 😊

My sleeve was complete on the 27th, released 2 days later due to severe spasms when drinking. My surgeon did not want to release me from fear of dehydration. I'm finally home now, today is my last day of Clear Liquids. Full liquids during next 16 days then progress to soft foods. I still struggle to get in 96 ounces of liquids. The surgeon repaired a hernia that he said would've been bad if not repaired.

Blended vegetable Soup is on my list of full liquids. Does anyone have any blended soup recipes? I don’t have a blender but willing to purchase one. Also, please share what has gotten you through this stage. I'm not hungry per se but I'm ready for the change in foods.

A blender would be a good investment. I blended whatever Soups I wanted to eat, but typically just strained off the broth and drank that.

@3sonsitk welcome! 96 ounces of Fluid is a lot!! I struggled to get to 60. I did not have a pureed stage, instead I did day 10 to 20 on smooth foods, and I just started soft. chicken Bone Broth was and is a miracle to me, it tastes great and gives you a little Protein, to boot. I also found a high protein mushroom soup mix on this site I like. I was sick of the sweet taste of everything else. Good luck!

I'm 12 days out from surgery now and things are getting better and better everyday.I've been able to keep up with the Protein requirements.I am definitely very tired of the commercial Protein Shakes. So I've been mostly making my own Using Protein Powder, Skim milk, and the Toranisyrups. I've also been eating a lot of pureed and Water down soups.Haven't had a problem keeping up with fluids, they let us count what we drink in the Protein Drinks as part of the total for the day. My new stomach definitely lets me know when it's full. And I usually fill up at about 3 oz. Then I just take my time drinking whatever else I need to at that time.I'm glad to hear so many of you are doing well. Let's keep in touch

What type of blender do you have?

I am 12 days post op. Just had an appointment with my surgeon. I have one incision that is still very sore but not to the point where I need pain meds or anything. I have been feeling pretty good. I'm sick of fluids, honestly but my doctor just gave me so new ideas to try as I have over a week still to be on full liquids. My only issue just started today, of course after my appointment. Every time I take a sip of the ice cold Water that I've been drinking since after surgery, I get some pretty strong cramps. They last for a few minutes and then it's done. I'm not sure what that's all about......

Hey all! Here we are in post-surgery :) I had my sleeve done 3 weeks ago today. It seems longer, to be honest. Today was my first day back at work; I usually work until around 6, but by 3:30 I was pretty tired and not getting anything done, so I called it a day.

I am on "Soft" foods now; There is a little more variety, which is great, but it takes a lot longer to eat it! To give you an idea of what I'm eating, I had a hard boiled egg and 1/3 of a mashed banana for breakfast; 2 oz of rotisserie chicken for lunch, and a Protein Drink for a snack. I am having a turkey sausage and cauliflower rice for dinner. I'll still need some Protein and of course fluids so I'll have a cup of Bone Broth later this evening. I'm not really hungry, but I do know when it is around time to eat. I feel really good overall; I went to the gym yesterday and did some Water exercise (nothing too strenuous and no core work, not that I am exactly good at core work); Went for a 20 minute walk at lunch just to get some steps in and the blood pumping a bit. I am averaging 8K steps a day, a couple of times I have gotten my full 10K in.

I did get a cold (!) after being at the hospital to see my surgeon last week; I think the flu at the beginning of the month, then the surgery, how low my calories are, and not being able to take the Vitamins until I was 10 days out has left me pretty susceptible to all the germs floating around at the hospital. Hopefully a cold is the worst I'll do, given the news about the corona virus.

I've only lost about 13 pounds since surgery, which I should not say "only"; 13 pounds in 3 weeks is pretty ok with me. I know some people lose a lot more, and probably some less, and I'm happy with slow(ish) and steady right now.

I'd love to hear how you all are doing! Hope everyone is healthy and healing and happy.

Same here! I see my doctor next Monday and I'm hoping by then that the incision in my belly button will stop hurting. I'm only 6 days post op though, so I'm not too too worried. Also get cramps with really cold stuff or big sips. They only last a few seconds though. Feels like it's going in sideways. I imagine when everything is properly healed, it will go away.

I hope it goes away soon! Another question for y’all. During your full liquid phase, if you had the broth from a Soup, how many ounces could you have at one time? I’m talking about stuff that would be thicker than just a chicken or Bone Broth but yet still a liquid.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
