I'm prepared to get responses that tell me I'm out of my mind, but I am having a gastric sleeve procedure one week from now and I turned 81 years old in January 2020.

My rationale is that while I might not have many years left on this planet, I want to look as good as I can and feel as good as I can. Summer is coming and I mind the heat dreadfully. I'm looking forward to being more comfortable come the hot weather. Yes, I have air conditioning but I do go out the door sometimes.

I'd love to hear from people in my age bracket who had undergone this surgery. I am in the Boston, Massachusetts area, and I am told by the weight center where I am being treated that they have several people in my age group scheduled for upcoming surgery.

If your doctor says it's OK and you feel you are physically OK, then go for it. Good luck.

You folks are so nice to send me these messages. I've made up my mind and nothing is going to change that. I had a hard time convincing my family (and some friends) that I was going through with it but it's now or never.

That's awesome, Grace!!! We're here for you!

Good for you! Good luck and keep us posted!

I'm 73 years old and just had my sleeve gastrectomy this past Wednesday and so you're not too old. I agree with you let's have some quality for the years we have left. I wanna be able to play with my grandchildren and have the energy for my passions. Good luck to you

Actually, it was just a week ago I got a call to come in to see my surgeon and she gave me the "go". She told me to start losing weight on my own before the surgery (which is scheduled for this coming Wednesday.) I actually have lost 10 pounds in 7 days.. I proud of me and I'm proud of YOU :)

Keep in touch.

Many thanks,

Grace

Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress
