I have a headache!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just started my preop Optifast.

The optifast doesn't taste too bad but I have had a headache since I started!! It has only been two days, but it has been a L O N G two days.

I do hope it goes away soon! Someone assure me it will ... pleeeease!

tracy :)

It does go away - its like your body going through withdrawls. How long are you on it for?

Your body is going through sugar/carb withdrawl. It will go away, usually around the 3rd day or so. Hang in there, you're almost through it!

Tracy:

Did you give up caffeine too? I know that I get a wicked headache if I don't have caffeine every morning.

Good luck with your pre-op diet and surgery.

I have TOTALLY avoided all artificial sugar products for years. It's all poison as far as I'm concerned. I started with the headaches the minute I started putting that crap in my body. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I also can't stand the lingering aftertaste. Everything tastes horrible except the sugar free popsicles. then it's just becasue my tongue is numb. Is anyone else having this problem? I tried stivia and found it to be bitter. I can't wait until I can eat normal food so I have more food choices. this is miserable. :)

hi,

i am on the 3rd day of my pre opt liver shrinking diet. i got a bad, really bad headache on day one and it finally went away last night. so it lasted almost 2 days. You are doing a good job on the diet becuase you are not taking in the sugars you normally take in. that is why you have a headache. good job. just relax in a dark, quiet room as much as you can. it will be over soon.

Yikes this is scaring me.. I wonder if everybody goes through those headaches.

Well, in the long run, a few headaches is nothing right? LOL. You are getting something put inside of you and making a HUGE life changing decision.

Despite how I felt doing my pre-op diet, I would do the whole thing over a million times if I had to. I am so happy with my decision to get the lap band.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
