I didn't have the liquid diet pre-op, my surgeon had a different practice of reducing calories to < 1500/day. Post-surgery, I was on liquid diet 2 1/2 weeks but started soft foods about 10 days in.

Nope. I was 100% faithful and I think that is why I have done so well. My doctor scared me at the workshop last summer. He said he had opened someone up the week before and didn’t do the surgery because their liver had not shrunk.... that’s why he does a Keto liquid diet. I. Was. Terrified. He also said he has had to do emergency surgery on someone who had an obstruction 3 days post op.... they are PIZZA! Seriously? Anyway.... you will feel better if you follow your doctors advice.

oh and WALK AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I can’t emphasize that enough.

You should follow your doctor's instructions and trust the process. Like @TattooedSeaStar said, there are doctors who won't even perform the surgery if you haven't done the diet before-hand and they can definitely tell if you haven't. Besides that, you are only hurting yourself by going against what they are doing to help you lose weight.

With all that being said, we are humans. If you mess up, you mess up, but you shouldn't let that ONE mess up turn into a day, week, month, etc of mess ups. Brush yourself off and get back to what you are supposed to be doing. You are the only one who is in control of your success. Cheating on the plan is only cheating yourself. Stick to it and I promise you will see good results!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
