Anyone else experiencing this?: Emerging after the holidays, Post-OP, and seeing folks I have not seen in quite some time. Aside from awesome WL reactions, I keep getting the unexpected reply, "Did you get shorter?". At first I thought it was just a reaction to me being an overall smaller human (I was always a big guy, 6ft peaking @350lbs in DEC 2018 just before starting my WL journey), however, even folks I haven't seen in years are saying the same thing. I haven't checked with my Dr. yet but wanted to see if this is just a common reaction based on perspective or a real physical change. If anything, I thought I might seem a bit taller; walking more upright, slouching less, and much more active.

LOL, I did get shorter (by about 1/2 inch) but I doubt it was noticeable by anyone other than my doc's measuring pole...

Visually though, I think I look taller (not shorter) because I am less wide...

I'm shorter than I used to be, but in my case, it's my age. If you're still young or middle-aged, it may just be that you look shorter because you're a lot narrower (??)

Its all about Geometry - No the differential of the radius around your old body has decreased in Relationship to your the vertical axis causing a deflection of the point load which was your weight! So in other words it is a mathematical illusion

Haha... sounds about right! More width gave the illusion of much more height... Now with less width...

I grew by 2cm! People said i looked taller! Maybe because youre a big guy, and theres less of you, its a feeling of you taking up less space

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
