How Long Do You Leave Between Meals?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!

I am struggling to get my Water ( lucky if I drink 750mls a day) and Protein in because of timings. How long do you leave between your meals?

I am trying to leave at least 10 minutes after drinking fluids before eating and at least 30 minutes after eating before drinking fluids again. But I am unsure when I can eat again?

Also I feel like I am tolerating too much food. I am tolerating about 300grams.

I am technically 5 weeks out although I was originally sleeved in 23 August 2019 then revised to bypass 5 weeks ago.

Thank you in advance to anyone who offers their advice and guidance. X

Well I'm still using shakes mostly but I usually leave about 2-3 hrs between each shake or meal.

I was able to drink a litre a day from very early now I'll drink like 3-4 litres a day and nearly 11 weeks out.

Each shake is about 300mls of Water and powder.

In the beginning at your stage I was eating about every 2-3 hours. I was legit hungry during that time cuz meals were so tiny and were more slidery in nature.

Volume is king. Follow your doc's and RD's plan for your volume at this stage in recovery. Don't exceed it even if you want to!

I never had issues with my liquids cuz I could drink a lot from the beginning. I do still try to leave 45 minutes-1 hour post meal for greater lasting satiety.

Now at 22months I do IF of 14:10, 16:8 and 18:6. So all my food is in a 6-8 hour window. I do supplement with part of a Protein Shake in morning coffees (cuz I love it, not cuz I need it), so that takes the Protein goal burden off my back and I can eat more veggies. I eat 2-5 meals during this time frame. Sometimes 6! :) And on days without IF, I still eat the same # of meals.

Because I enjoy my shakes and it's the quickest way to hit Protein goals.. I do have some yoghurt or hummus or tuna if I need it..

I've bought Protein Powder in bulk so it's gotta be used up and my surgeon said if I like shakes that's fine.

If it keeps me satisfied why change it...

That's also why my weight loss has been so good.

I literally don't even think about food much at all like some days I gotta remind myself to eat and shakes are so convenient when on the go :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
