Ok so real quick..I have always been big for my age the whole story as I am sure many of us have. When I was in 6th grade, I tried out for the basketball team and started working out more..putting myself into a healthier way..then I severely broke my leg and 8 weeks of sitting in a wheelchair eating cheetos...well. At that time I weighed 175 lbs. Ive always remebered this number and wanted to get back to it..This has always been my goal, since 6th grade. I always thought Id be perfectly satisfied at 175 lbs. Well I am now 172. And I still think I'm fat. People call me "skinny" alot and I correct them by saying "no Im not skinny, just skinnier!" Ok, but I wear a size 10 jeans. That is a normal size, like its not fat. So why do I still feel fat? I pushed my goal weight back and am now shooting for a size 8...but I worry if maybe because all of my life I have been fat, I will always believe I am. As ya'll (theres my Texas accent) approach the goal weight, were you satisfied, or did you not want to stop. I just worry that I might replace my bad eating habits with weight obsession..and to be honest, i think Id rather be fat!! When do you know you are done? Do you stop losing and then just listen to your body or what?

I am in the same boat as you are. I am a normal (average) size and I still feel like I am really fat. I am also in a size 10 but now I wish I were smaller. My mother-in-law who never has anything nice to say said I was skinny I almost fell over myself. Sometimes I feel like people are saying things like that just to be nice because they are not used to me being smaller.

I'm listening to my body atm. I'd like to be about 12lb lighter, but I'm aware of the fact that I'm 40 and my face and hands and neck have shown the signs of weightloss too - I'm going to get stringy looking as well, so I just kind of want to see what happens. I'm trying, but not really trying, kind of thing.

I know that for me, to not have a bit of a muffin top and to make my sad pathetic backside and thighs the best they can be, I need to be about 145 at five foot ten, I just have a light build and fairly narrow frame. 175 is FAT on me at my height. Although it depends what you define as fat, I get a strong sense that in America where there are more overweight people and they are much much bigger than you see here, that 175 looks slender and normal to a lot of you whereas to me, it's quite large and you really could lose a few pounds kind of weight. I think that was half the thing behind the huge goal weight debate, you define normal by what you see around you. I know that at 5ft 10, 145 lb I'm about a US size 8-10, perfect. No lumps, bumps and difficult bits but still have boobs and hips

I got to the mid range of a normal BMI, and I looked pretty good. Not fat, but not a (Aussie) size 8 either. I was still sort of, for a lack of a better term, dumpy.

I am actually really glad I ended up losing more weight after getting to "goal". I am at anywhere between 105-107lbs. It's a good weight on me. At 5ft 3, I am short enough to carry that little weight, and still look healthy and athletic. I wouldn't want to lose any more weight, but I am happy where I am.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
