I actually prefer not to die

Since you are getting closer to your surgery date, I thought it might be fitting to pass on a little advice.

After surgery remember to WALK, WALK, WALK. Around the clock every 2 hours. Most of the pain from surgery is really gas pain and walking relieves that. After surgery I felt so little pain that I refused all pain medicine. It was because I WALKED, WALKED, WALKED.

I had surgery in 2013 and this article summarizes my perception.

I am 71 years old now and still kicking. Having the surgery was a major part of my continued living. Well off to the YMCA to swim a mile.

Great advice. This should also help with my diabetes related leg pain. Walking, and maybe some time on my stationary bike.

Walking is great advice. My neighbor who had RNY surgery said walk 1000 steps every 2 hours. For the same reason, to greatly reduce gas pain. He also suggested bringing anti-gas pills with you to the hospital.

I didn't add the ** in my reply. It must have been automatic. I assume the audience here is composed mostly of tender snowflakes, and the last thing I want to do is intrude on someone's safe space. Oh, Motherfacker!

I think the forum computer does that. I typed s--h--i--t once, and it added the same asterisk. I guess our virginal eyes will explode if we read cuss words.👰

Brian,

Your post caught my attention. I can relate - 46 yo female and I finally decided I wanted to live long enough to see grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.

Well I'm 59, never married, and have an abnormally high sex drive. I'm going to lose 100 lbs and get my old job back in the adult film industry.

Don't judge me. I bring happiness to many.

This is probably my last post. The moderator put me on double-secret internet probation. I just got back, and I fear my salty language is going to get me a permanent kick in the taint. I just gotta be me, but I tend to melt a lot of snowflakes. Surgery postponed until this Wednesday because blood sugar too high. I'd ask for advice, but I'm about to get banned for life.

Well if you do go, I will miss you. You have made me laugh out loud many times. I don’t have any advice for the blood sugar issue though. I hope it all goes well.

Oh no, don't go.... please change your entire personality to please a bunch of cyber strangers!! Seriously, I wish you could stay for the journey, and for the laughs. Re blood sugar, I have a friend who swears by 10 minutes brisk walk after she eats anything. Best of luck!

Also, trying to get my doctor to increase my medication before surgery Wednesday. a*****e only works until noon, then he apparently drops acid and enjoys a round or two of ass sex and can't be reached. Until I'm almost f**king dead, that is.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this post...so I'll do both. Seriously, good luck. I don't know why they won't go ahead and do your surgery...it'll fix your sugar problem quickly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
