1 week clear liquid, how much did you lose?

Recommended Posts

Just for fun, if you had a 1 week clear liquid preop diet, how much did you lose that week?

Im on day 3 and its tough, but seeing the scale move is encouraging. After two days, I'm down 5 pounds.

The first couple days is tough, but it does get way easier once your body gets used to it :). You are doing great.

Also, the amount of weight one loses really varies and depends alot on starting weight (among a myriad other things). To put things in a bit more perspective, you *could* look at percentage of weight loss instead.

Good Luck!

I didn't have to do the clear liquid diet pre-op, my surgeon has her patients to < 1500/calories/day for two weeks pre-op. I did lose some, but I don't remember how much. I also, of course, lost post-op on liquids for two weeks, but again I don't remember how much.

I was on clear liquid for 3 days and lost 13 lbs. My surgery was 12/26, so the clear liquid phase was over Christmas Eve / Christmas Day, which included three family gatherings. Man, that was rough! Absolutely worth it, but still pretty tough to sit through those meals sipping my chicken broth!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
