Got banded on Friday November 23rd

Recommended Posts

My name is Kimberly, I am 49, a hairstylist and I live in Santa Barbara, CA. I was Banded in Mexico by Dr. Huacuz in his clinic. I had a positive experience the entire process I'm sore and walking very slowly. I did a 10 day liquid fast before the procedure, and of course the standard liquids 2 weeks after ( I am on day 3). I do not know how much I have lost up to this point as I hate the scale. I do know that I started at an all time high of 236 lbs. I realize that I do need to look at the numbers in the near future so that I know what is happening with my body. I will walk to my girlfriends house and use her scale. That will be my goal for today.

My only real concerns at this time are going back to work and shampooing ladies at the bowl (slight bending motion), and my dogs jumping up on me and causing harm to my incisions and area in general. Other then that I feel like I have an awesome support network: great husband, friends and plenty of wise Banded soles to help guide me.

I'm glad that this site was recommended to me by 2 fellow Bandsters. A shout out to Terri in San Diego, and Sandra in New York City.icon10.gif Hugs and a speedy recovery Sandra.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
