Over stitch requirements?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was sleeved in 2014. My high weight was 311, I got down to 165 and now I am 205. BMI is 32.

I started to take progesterone for perimenopause two years ago and I have been gaining since then. My sleeve has stretched out a lot in five years.

Does anyone know what the requirements are for surgeons and insurance companies to get overstitch? I can't find anything online, it is so vague. Ideally I would like to be at 175-180.

Anything under that and I look gaunt. I have tried the pouch test and Keto and monitoring my calories and Protein but nothing really helps. I'm afraid the further I get into menopause the worse this is going to get.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry you are going through this! Peri is worse than meno in my opinion!!

I lost all my weight after meno, so it is possible to lose with forked over hormones.

I don't know the requirments for overstitch, I've just "heard" that they aren't always very successful?

Can you tell us more about your diet? How many cals per day and your macros? Maybe give a sample day?

I can tell you as a post meno woman on a big time cancer drug that shuts down all hormones, the ONLY way I lost my weight even after surgery was to do low carb lower fat. Any excess fat and I would/could not lose. I can maintain, and I can definitely gain on high fat. So Keto as defined by modern terms doesn't work. I've seen it again and again with post meno women as well.

Also, no booze. It will stop you dead in your tracks for up to 4 days, especially when you are perimeno and meno. It's like we lose our metabolic flexibility.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
