Where did my menopause symptoms go?

Recommended Posts

Not that I’m complaining, but I haven’t had a hot flush since I had my surgery back in May. I may have had a slight twinge a couple of weeks ago but this is Queensland and the heat is on (sorry to all you freezing in the northern hemisphere) so it could just have been the 37degrees C temp.

Have any of my menopausal sisters experienced this?

I know I’ve lost all the eostrogen that was stored in my fat but could it also be that I’ve passed that stage of life? Or is my HRT just working extremely well now?

Told my girlfriends of this change last weekend. Got called a few names as they were fanning themselves & turning the air conditioning to arctic temps. 😆

IDK!! I’ve had 3 private summers since my GB on 10-2-19 but I used to have one or more every hour - every day!! It’s great, isn’t it?!! All I can say is Good Riddance!!

Summer was always worse because my general body temp was higher. Fingers crossed I’ve seen the end too.
Also the dry skin on my arms, legs & feet is almost gone as are the little pimples on my arms. I used to exfoliate and slather on the moisturiser but still scratched my legs til I had bruises. Yippee!

Is this something to look forward to, oh yes.... I get tired of being extra hot when it's damn cold outside. I love the cooler weather. Will I be cold all of the time after surgery like a lot of women?

I just spent a week on the GC and was cold in the evening. Hubby kept telling me it wasnt cold but I don't believe him. Could be my meds are working or less body weight means less heat

Maybe both but It Is Worth it to become a Wise Woman if Certain Years over being a Drippy Dora 3ach and Every Month. And there are always sweaters, jumpers, whatever You want to Call it, so Layer Up, better than turning a shade of blue and being Goose- Bumpy!
And Yeah it is getting COLD in OHIO- we are currently Blessed with Snow on the Ground while YOU have BushFires " Down Under"- truly believe there is No Perfect Weather except maybe Tahiti, and doubt I'LL EVER GET THERE!

I have a question for you ladies...I am 47 and am thinking I *may* be entering perimenopause.

Now, I may just be hypochondriac-y self-diagnosing (Mr. says I need to stop googling everything), because my only real possible "symptom" is that the past 3 weeks, I *think* I had 2 hot flashes. I say only symptom because I still have regular periods, no real changes in mood (except maybe for a few days when I started my quit-smoking attempt) nor sexual function, etc...

Anyhoo, these hot flashes (or at least I think they are)...are not what I expected. I basically started dripping sweat for no reason at all, BUT i did not feel hot. In fact, I was semi-cold, but I needed to take some clothes off because they were getting soggy. The sweating lasted for like 3-5 minutes, then just stopped as quickly as it came on.

So the question is: to anyone who had hot flashes before surgery, did your flashes change post-op? Given that we all seem to be freezing all the time after surgery, did you find that you weren't actually hot anymore during them?

I might get called a few names, but I am postmenopausal and I think I had a hot flash once? I have some hormonal issues that have never been sorted out properly. Hoping the surgery does not change that for me 😉

The only reason I know I'm menopausal is for the personal Summers I have every once in a while. Yes, all of a sudden I'm sweating, and it can be freezing cold, But the back of my neck emits tons of heat in waves. Thankfully, I only get them every once in a while. My mom used to get them frequently. I now understand though about wanting to walk into your freezer when you're having them. When I worked at a big box store, I used to go into the dairy cooler and stock milk while the flash happened.

I'm 65 and should have been through with that sh*t years ago since I had an early menopause in my early 40's. But I STILL wake up every night with hot flashes, and they aren't JUST hot flashes-they are accompanied with this weird gut squeezing sensation. I wonder what they are going to feel like after my bypass. Maybe go away?🤞

There is no "I hate you" or "you b***h" reaction choice on the "like" button on this forum...seems like there oughta be...(just kidding, or course! ! But I KNOW my flashin' sisters out there were thinking the same thing when they read your post....)😁

Seriously, count yourself lucky, My MIL said she never had them either.

51 now.... Dx menopausal this past Marchishhhh.... I was sweating for no reason (this coming from someone that keeps a heater on all day under my desk). and like many others, as fast as they would come on, they would go away. I was having a few a week. Most of the time at night. I also started having mood swings. My Gyn put me on ESTRATEST (esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone) 1.25 mg of Esterified Estrogens, USP and 2.5 mg of Methyltestosterone. This worked fine for the flashes and moods, but it also made me gain weight. So i stopped taking them. Yes the flashes and swings came back. Aug 28, 2019 got sleeved and im down to 144.2 from 173.5 as of today. So last week i decided to give the pills another chance... well i got married in sept. and now have different insurance and they don't cover this one. So now im on only Estrogen.... So, not sure if the flashes and swings stopped because of the WLS or the pill.....We shall see.

I’m now thinking this loss of menopausal symptoms may be a NSV. 😜
I experienced a couple of random hot flashes (felt like my face was burning but the rest of me was fine) while still having my periods in my late 40s too ms.sss. So yes I think you may be perimenopausal. Then I suddenly stopped having periods when I hit 50 - well one after 4 months then another break, then nothing since. Was a bit annoying not knowing when or if they would start again.

I found I also started to get ‘feisty’. Then one day I told my boss off and not over anything major. I made an appointment with my GP that afternoon & she put me on HRT. (Thank goodness my boss was pretty easy going & this was such an anomaly in my behaviour he let it pass. Though it was funny the next day when I apologised and he very nervously asked if I was ok & if there was anything he could do.)

Oh and feeling the cold now. Hell yeah! I can’t stand walking down the frozen & refrigerated aisles at the supermarket anymore. It’s like a physical pain. I need thermals just to buy some milk.

PS - Don’t want to scare anyone but my mum is almost 80 & if she goes off her HRT, her hot flashes return & her emotions are all over the place. I hope you don’t continue like this JRT mom.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
