Triathlon done!!!!! Woo hoo!

Recommended Posts

I finished the triathlon today! No speed records, mind you, but I finished it. The final home stretch was so emotional for me, as I considered where I was 8 months ago. This would not have even been remotely possible then with 110 extra pounds and joints that were giving up the ghost. I feel so grateful for the life that has been given back to me. By the time I got to the finish line, with all the cheering, cow bells, finishing medal around my neck, I was in tears. What an amazing milestone. I will never forget this day and what it represents - a new life with new horizons I cannot yet even imagine. I feel good - not totally drained like I expected. No NSAIDs, either. What an experience. I hope everyone of us has a milestone achievement that redefines us as empowered individuals.

Thanks so much. I finished pretty close to the bottom, but all that matters is that I finished! My friend (who does these events all the time) told me that 90% of the U.S. population will never do any kind of endurance event, so just finishing puts me in the top 10%! I like that way of thinking!

Here is me stomping the finish line! I have no idea how so many copies got posted, and I have no idea how to get them off. Help!

Aaaaah! This is so fantastic. Very, very cool. What was your training regimen like to prepare for this? So curious about all the different types of training people are doing!

So my surgery anniversary date is on the 24th of this month, but I had my 1-year follow up early with my surgeon this morning (I have another 1-year followup at the hospital on Monday to get my bloodwork and labs done).
Anyhoo...my surgeon was very pleased with my results (and so where the office staff apparently, because 3 of the front desk ladies came by my exam room to give me props/high fives/generally gawk at me).
But get this: he asked if I would be willing to come in for a future photoshoot so that I could be on a poster! And I was all, ummmm....no thanks, LOL.

Today was a really tough day and I turned to food (and a watered down glass of wine). The interesting part was that I felt REALLY full after eating half my go to cheat snack, tortilla chips with cheese. So the GBP is doing its job!

The only way I can tell that I'm losing weight is from the scale and my clothes "getting bigger".
