Final 4 weeks until surgery day!!!

Recommended Posts

Feeling great. Starting the final count down 4 weeks; 28 days ill be having surgery 10/28.

Been working hard on my own diet the past 5 weeks cut out all sugar and carbs and junk food.

Started shakes and high Protein low carb lifestyle. Drinking plenty of fluids, living off tuna and veggies mostly.

Just started using my exercise bike to help.

Surgeon was very happy that I lost 40lbs in the first 4 weeks :)

currently 279 highest 322 aiming for 185-200lbs.

I'm feeling very positive about the future.

It is a challenge to keep focused and to be strict on myself but I remind myself everyday to keep my eye on the prize!!!

I'm forever grateful for this group :D

awesome . Im in my final 4 week stretch and I have been eating Protein protein protein for months now I am eating basicly protein and lean meat and vegetables really not messing with the carbs any more a can of tuna fish dumped in a salad is my go to lunch . I look forward to sitting on the loser's bench with you guys.I could have and should have lost at least 25 pounds or more based on what I was eating … I failed to mention that at least two or three times a week this past month I was also

curling up with a glass or two of sangria...… Had noooooooo idea it was sooooooooooooo much sugar and carbs in just one glass let alone two three times a week. well I am finished beating myself up I really just didn't realize that until my niece said something to that effect and I googled it . I am still eating correctly and eliminating the sangria I still have time to make a good mark.. learn from my mistake...

Mikey I mean this in a very good way so dont take it wrong. How did you end up in the situation you were to begin with because your success pre surgery has shown you have the power to do this without needing the surgery. I look at myself and all the things I still dont do that I should and I am thankful every day that I have a tool to stop me from over eating.

@Brent701 I don't feel I can maintain this restrictive diet on my own long term that's number 1.

Number 2 the RNY BYPASS does a lot more than just restrict the amount of food, it completely rearranges your system and changes your metabolism for the better and I believe I need all those things plus the Malabsorption for my long term success.

Number 3 losing weight is not that hard.

it's keeping it off and maintaining it for years to come that's where the surgery will increase my chances of long term success.

In the past I've had traumatic experiences in life that have sent me completely off track where I would indulge in all things like bad carbs and take away and generally overeating plus I was an alcoholic for many years but gave that up.

I still get cravings when I see things on tv like a nice big juicy burger or steak but I have to remind myself why I am doing this...

Thanks for your response

Cool so you want to use it as a tool for lasting results. Atleast you are honest on the sustainability of it. The most weight I lost before was 50lbs but I had gained it all back within 6 months. I love burgers and steak I just cant finish them and I know a few bites isnt going to sidetrack me. Its all the extra that went with it like fries and soda that really packed on the extra pounds.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
