For the men who had 100lbs + to lose i need help!!!

Recommended Posts

For the men mostly after losing 100lbs like what kind of training or workouts or tips do you have to help to stop from getting bat wings and lower stomach skin?

I'm very early days so I'm just curious what kind of a regime would you suggest?

I mostly do cardio on my bike but I've been hearing more and more about using weights or machines to work on my arms and like rowing machines?

I know there's no gauranteed way but there's gotta be tips to help tone your overall body as I go through my journey?

Like I want to eventually have some tone maybe even muscle not end up like a stick but also don't want to be huge?

I've still got 100lbs to lose and feel if I start weight training will it put muscle onto my fat or will it actually help me burn more fat and flubber??

Sorry for any ignorance I've never tried weights!!

I too was concerned about loose skin. While it will probably be impossible not to have some loose skin, im very happy with my results so far. i am 2.5 months post op and have dropped 60. My doctor cleared me after two weeks to go back to working out. Since then i started crossFit. THIS IS JUST MY EXPERIENCE. And i freaking love it. I was an overweight athlete my whole life. Crossfit fills that need for competing that i love. Im starting to get definition in my arms and legs and i have VERY little loose skin on my arms. Maybe its something you want to try. Idk. I just know its working for me and i love it. And i still maintain a 800 cal diet and get all my Water and Protein in.

What exactly does cross fit include and do you do any other weights or anything

Crossfit -a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise.

Every gym is different but they have the same idea.

And yes, i do crossfit 4 days a week and ill usually run a couple miles 2 other days a week. Once in a while ill work out biceps and triceps at the gym after my cardio but thats about it.

So far, I've managed to luck out. I've lost over 160 lbs since my heaviest and I don't have any loose skin. Of course, I'm only 32.

I’ve lost 185lbs so far and been going to the gym balancing cardio and muscle training. Pretty much no matter what you do if you were really over weight you’ll have loose skin. You can’t avoid it. The body has stretched your skin totally. I was 500lbs and now down to 314.

it’s a lot to lose over time.

That's great. I've already lost 40lbs preop and only got 100lbs to go and I'm only 35 but been pretty sedentary for a while which I know I'll have to change and start with a gym regime soon.

My arms have a little loose skin.

maybe over time as I lose more it might retract.

(Let's hope)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
