Recommended Posts

8/2/19 here.. .. the first 2 days were the most painful due to gas pain.. not at the insicion site or even my new sleeve.. re gas moving from side to side was the worst.. that being said once you burp it all or fartvit all it's been a good 6 days..
3rd day out we shopped Costco
4th days out we shopped at sams club and 5th day out I took my brother in law to the shooting range.. just make sure you hydrate

I agree!! That gas pain was unreal!! I was doubled over sometimes. But by day 3, it started to feel better. Walk, walk, walk walk. I sometimes wake up at night to do laps around my living room to relieve gas pressure and go back to sleep exhausted.
I never needed any painkillers the moment I was discharged from the hospital.
Getting my 64 oz Water is initially next to impossible but it gets better especially after I infused with fruits....still not at exactly 64 oz though.
Today was my post OP class education for what next 2 months would look like globally but with focus on diet. Afterwards they served lunch which mine was refried Beans vegan style with 1 oz diced canned peaches. Had 1/3 of the refried beans and couldn't go any further. I think I only had 1 forkful of the fruit. I eventually finished the beans 2 hours later. I tried making 1 oz Protein Shake a few hours later just to experiment and couldn't finish it.

Otherwise I feel mostly normal other than the mild cramping from eating and continued burps from gas.

I continue to walk but home to make it to my spin class at the gym tomorrow if I feel up to it.

All this at day 4 post OP. This will be an interesting adventure/journey, I'm trying to embrace it but I won't lie, there are a lot of trepidation, self doubt etc.

Everyone please keep us updated so we can support each other [emoji169][emoji169]🧡🧡

I'm scheduled for the 30th and starting to really dread this. Glad to know you weren't in all that much pain. How are you feeling now?

Sincerely, completely painfree!! Sometimes I question if I had surgery. My largest incision site pinches when I bend suddenly on that side. Otherwise back at work, walking 10K daily and generally just adjusting to the new lifestyle of food not ruling my life!
Don't be scared! You'll do fine and heal fast!!

Thank you, I needed to hear this. Just 3 more days away. I'm scared! Like I said before, the whole 80% of my stomach being removed just creeps me out. I have a friend though whose 2 years out and she eats what seems like normal amounts of food. Anyway, thank you again.

In had my two week follow up visit today. Down 12.2 lbs since surgery. We had our diet advancement class today. My program skips from full liquids to soft foods. I gave tuna and cottage cheese a try for lunch today, it went down well with no problem. I’m happy to be off the liquids! I was kind of queasy the last couple days and felt like I was developing an aversion to the Protein Shakes. I hope dinner goes as well as lunch did! Our program sets a goal of 80g protein/day and 700-800 cals. I won’t quite make quite that many calories today but should hit my Protein goal.

How has it been for you with regard to drinking/eating? Does it hurt when it goes down? That's part of what I'm afraid of.

I had my sleeve on 8/7/19 and am struggling to meet my Protein (60g) and Water (64oz) intake goals. I feel like I have to graze to work towards the protein goal but since I can’t drink anything with food I don’t have many opportunities to get my water in. Suggestions?

I've had experience with the lapband which was the most horrible pain with eating I've ever experienced in my life.
With the sleeve, I know when to stop eating because you feel the restriction of your tummy. I won't call it pain rather discomfort and that's my cue to stop eating. It doesn't happen often because my caloric intake is small and spread out. I chew chew and chew. I eat slowly for the most part, it's when I go too hastily that I experience the discomfort.
With the lapband, it was outright pain like a heart attack!! Not this. TBH, I like the discomfort reassuring of my restriction.
Take care and you will be fine!!!🧡

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
