Welcome to the site. I find it to extremely helpful as I've scanned older posts and the new ones. My surgery is Tuesday and I'm on the pre-op diet.

I am two weeks out from surgery and I’m still having a hard time getting all my Protein and liquids in. My weight loss was pretty rapid the first week and now it has really slowed down I think I’m only losing like .4 or .7 or .5 a day now is this normal?

Hi everyone. I had surgery Wednesday July 31 2019 and today is Saturday August 2 2019. I’m on liquids only and I’m so hungry! I am drinking tons of different liquids including Protein Shakes. Is it normal to be this hungry so early in the process?

Hi, I had mine July 31 too. I'm still sipping caffeine-free tea and it takes me all day to do a Protein Drink. I like the Outlast pop cycles without sugar added. You need to realize you don't have to eat every time your tummy rumbles or if you feel hungry. Things are trying to settle out. I sip things slowly and that usually quiet the beast. I am looking forward to Tuesday when I can have full liquids, but again I'll be careful not to add a lot of calories. This is the time you drop a lot of weight. I also find taking all that medicine to be filling as I hate the taste. Good luck and keep in touch.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
