I’m in “month one” and just trying to get used to this all. But something I am noticing is that even after I eat - say an hour later - I’m hungry again. Yes, a small amount of food will immediately stop the issue - but why am I always hungry? I’m also starting to feel insecure about the process. I’ve lost 24lbs and no one can tell a difference (I went from 238 to 214). I know this will take a while, but if anyone can give me some pointers or just bring some positivity in my life, it would be most appreciated!!

I would just take a look at whether or not you are actually hungry, could be reflux, or is it head hunger?

Congrats on losing 24lbs in 1 month! That's amazing and outstanding!

It takes people a while to feel confident saying anything about another's weight loss. And also, for some of us, it may take more to actually show a difference. 24 lbs might now show much yet?

And for being hungry, it could be extra acid (take a PPI). It could be thirst. And it could be you are still insulin resistant and are eating too many carbs for satiety to take hold. You must stick with the prescribed quantities for your plan. Stick to no snacking--only eating your min-meals you are supposed to eat. Your nerves were cut and aren't fully talking to your brain. So it will just take some more time for those signals to work for you. I remember it was 3-4 months before I felt full from a meal. Hang in there. You are doing great!

Are you eating enough Protein? Protein will help with the hunger. You have lost alot of weight in one month. Sometimes people feel uncomfortable discussing weight up or down. That has been my experience.

I think it takes about 40 pounds before people notice. And of course you lose it first in the face and boobs! Seems like it melts downward and the bottom part is the last to finally go! Hang in there. You are still actively healing. It takes at least a couple of months for those tissues to heal and swelling to go down. Fluids and Protein are your first priorities. FluffyChix has a great link to dealing with head hunger. Maybe you could post it here again, FluffyChix?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
