How long between bites of food?

Looks like you are 5 days post op...at that stage, I was still on liquids/full fluids.

But when I did end up eating actual food at the minced stage 3 weeks post op (i skipped the pureed stage on my own volition cuz it grossed me out), I waited 10 to 15 minutes between 1-2 bites. Sometimes I forgot, but then the pain in my chest would remind me.

I'm just over 8 months post op, and I still take a long time to eat, but I do about 10 minutes between 3-5 bites now.

You'll learn what your pace should be like...your body will tell you.

How do you get used to cold food? I mean obviously if. It takes so long to eat all your food after the first bite is going to be cold.

Microwave... you can only eat 1-2 oz of anything right now.

You should still be on Protein Shakes right now, not food. You are still inflamed and nothing is healed at this point. Exactly WHAT are you eating? Even cream Soups are after two weeks, be careful, your gut is not fully functioning.

Practice I guess, lol.

But yeah, 99% of the time, the food I eat is either cold or room temperature. I'm used to it. I don't even bother heating up leftovers from the fridge (unless its something that gets gelatinous when refrigerated like Bone Broth or something....)

Thanks for the reply. Lol I have several things to get use to cold food as well as not drinking when I eat I can't imagine how I am going to accomplish that. I drink continuously.

Lots of things to work on.

Mine told me to count 40 in between. Don't know for certain why they chose that amount, maybe just to make you eat slower and more mindfully. And to lay down eating utensils between each bite. They believed it should take you 30 minutes to eat, they seemed to be more interested in lukewarm food than I ever have been.
Don't give much thought to reasoning THEM out, having enough trouble understanding ME at times!👈😠👉

This is the rule my surgeon told me and it works. 30-30-30 don't drink nothing 30 min before a meal, take 30 min to eat a meal and don't drink nothing 30 min after a meal. It's different but effective!

omg. i totally misread your surgery date. I just saw 06/29 and assumed it was this year...sorry about that!

I find that everyone's "rules" differ from surgeon to surgeon, but are more or less in the same vein. Here is a resource you can peruse:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
