How many calories do you eat a day?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

Just wondering, how many calories do you eat a day (on average)? and how far out are you? Also, how many times a week do you workout and for how long?

I eat about 500 cals a day and work out 3 times a week ( I try to burn 800 cals every workout )

My surgery was May 27th. Im eating about 500-800 calories and walk for about an hour 3 times a week. I really dont want to eat below that because I would put my body into starvation mode. Im still having problems getting my Protein in and have been "filling out my calories" (eating high calorie stuff and a few carbs) on some days to make sure I get in even that much. I cant say that Ive been eating great, but im working towards it.

My surgeon is tracking 1700 of his patients. After one year almost all we’re still on under 1000 calories a day. After two years, about 1500 average...

I'm 11 months out and trying to put the brakes on my weight loss. Shooting for 1200 calories at 45% carbs (135g), 25% Protein (75g) and 30% fat (40g).

I eat between 600-750 calories a day, and I'm 6 weeks out. I know that once I'm able to ditch the Protein Shakes that will come down. Exercise isn't consistent yet (that's July's goal), but I'm shooting for 5km walk per day, 5 days per week. At least for the good weather months.

I am so glad you made this post! I was wondering about my own caloric intake and if it was enough. I'm averaging just over 500/day. I know most surgeons tell you to eat every four hours but frankly I'm not hungry enough to do that! To me, eating when I'm not hungry is what got me into trouble in the first place!😀

Four years out and in maintenance for 2.5 years. I can maintain my weight if I stay within a 1500-1700 range.

Some days I eat 400 and some I can eat up to 700. I don't know why some days I eat a few bites of Protein source food and get full and other days I can eat more. No more than 1/3 cup though. I don't excersize at all yet besides doing a few reps of squats every day and staying a lot more active. I will eventually start lifting but wanted to let my body just take this time to fully recover.

I've gotten close to 1k a few days, but Most days I'm sub-1000. I'm honestly mostly sub-800.

I am 7 weeks out and I am usually under 400 calories a day. The most calories I had in a day since surgery is 474 calories.

5 months....some days I am at 400 (which is too low) and occasionally I can hit 800 if I eat enough Protein. Average is 600-650. I walk 5 days a week minimum and will add in light weights/resistance soon.

This is what im more worrying about. It seems like my pouch can hold way more up to almost a cup already (6 weeks out). Is that normal?

YES! I feel the same way! I feel like i'm only holding myself from eating out of fear that my stomach will stretch, not because i'm anywhere near full.

I can eat a whole Wendy's chili. It fills me up. I can also eat a whole bag of Quest Protein chips or Protes protein popcorn.

I stop before I feel full because the sensation of full is different now and I don't want to stretch out my pouch. Here is my Portion Control guidelines. Hope this helps 😊

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
