Ill be 3 yrs out in October and i drink soda and seltzer occasionally. It's not the most comfortable feeling so i don't crave it like before. Thought I'd try to get into kombucha.... it had more bubbles than soda. I go for tea, crystal light or Water. Soda isn't worth it

They told me for both the sleeve and lap band no carbonated drinks at all, they stretch your pouch.

There are many differing opinions on this. Some surgeons subscribe to this theory. Others do not.

I have it occasionally now that I'm four years out, but it does bother my stomach. I have to drink it VERY SLOWLY. Sometimes I let it sit open for awhile to flatten a bit.

It seems some people drink it, some don't - but those who do usually wait quite awhile after surgery before attempting it.

Nice topic considering I’ve got a wedding to attend July 4th and there will be a champagne toast.

I’m thinking as long as I sip slowly I could probably get away with sipping on 1-2 ounces.
Besides, if my sleeve gets full on that, I will for sure not be tempted by wedding cake

Some people tolerate carbonation. I don't know if it causes stretching or not but it certainly causes me discomfort. Whatever you try - seltzer Water or a little wedding champagne toast - make sure you are sipping it slowly and find out how you personally tolerate it.

I can take a sip or two, but it definitely feels different post-op and I couldn't drink a whole diet soda now and don't crave or want carbonated drinks anymore.

Earlier on, I could only drink a few sips of sparkling Water at at time. It made me burp like crazy and I swear I could feel it travel through my stomach and intestines.

Now (almost 8 months post op) I can drink sparkling water just fine, and in pre-op quantities. I suspect I do have issues drinking carbonated alcoholic drinks, but that is probably more because of the sugar content than the carbonation (a lesson I learned the hard way :( )

I have moments of wanting to drink a pop and have to tell myself not to do it. If i ear something that makes me have the craving I'll drink gatorade zero for a taste to make it go away. The doctors told me not to drink anything carbonated because it can cause it to stretch back out and plus you will have discomfort.

There are moments when I'd want a flat Pepsi. But it's super sugary and I'd get dumping and that reminds me it isn't worth it. Good luck and keep strong!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
