I am 12 days post op and the struggle is REAL!!! I have a few more days until I can start pureed foods but it feels like that’s an eternity away! I knew this wasn’t going to be an easy journey but I never realized how much I obsessed about food. Any suggestions on what to try first? I’m looking forward to eggs and mashed avocado.

Hang in there it will be worth it!!! I was in the same place as you and it does get better, I never liked eggs that much before but when it was time to eat soft foods eggs were my best friend... Hang in there....

@bariutiful Thanks!! 😊 I've been on liquids for a total of two weeks, one week was clear only and the second was fuller liquids. The first week was a cake walk since I was barely hungry and ate because I knew I needed the fluids. This past week though has been very trying.

I just have to make it through today, and come tomorrow morning i'll have a little bit of scrambled eggs YAY!!! Oh and I attached my post op calendar so you can take a look at it.

@jaytissle55 Thanks! It's so comforting to know I'm not alone!

The first 2 weeks are the worst. I got really obsessed with looking at recipes and dreaming of food.

Today at over 3 months out, the obsession has faded and I'm learning to slow down and enjoy the food I do eat. I eat mostly to plan, but indulge sometimes, albeit a small amount. Today i enjoyed fresh strawberries and blueberries, but not a lot. I can consume amounts that led to my obesity.

Best of luck on your journey!

I went straight to Trader Joe’s and got their sole, it’s frozen however such it’s such a thin fish it thaws quickly and it takes 3 minutes to sauté/steam. I hate mushy foods so that really helped me up my Protein.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
