3 weeks post op & craving food in my head

Recommended Posts

hi

i’m newly sleeved. I’m on liquid diet & am now sooo sick of soup/liquids.

Can’t wait till puree begins to try some mashed potato.

I keep getting cravings for french fries, chinese spring rolls & seafood. in reality, if you put a plate of chips in front of me- i don’t think i’d physically be able to eat them but just wondered do these head cravings stop?

i’m like watching food cooking on youtube & this kinda soothes my cravings as does smelling what the rest of my family are eating.

is this weird behaviour? lol.

I have been feeling v weak on this liquid diet. i’m hoping that when i’m on soft foods my digestion will sort itself out

I just wanted to say “You are not alone” the post op liquid diet is challenging. Hopefully you will be starting the purée stage soon. I also look at food pictures and videos mostly on Instagram and just like you I wouldn’t eat it if it was in front me. Just the thought of knowing you can’t have something makes you want it. We have come to far to jeopardize our success, good luck on your journey.

You're not alone. I swear on day 3 or 4 I had a dream that I found a box of Cheez-it's and ate some. I woke up all "oh no I ate a Cheez-it!!!" for that first few seconds until I realized it was a dream. I'm so sorry you're on Soups at 3 weeks out. I'm counting the freaking days till 14 to get to eggs and tuna etc. My post op says I can have pureed meats at that point too, but I might go slowly on those. We'll see. I'm craving ground beef or ground chicken so badly.

Are you allowed creamy soups? Try blending a baked potato Soup?

It's really hard afterwards, I totally can relate, but it gets better. Your dream cracked me up

I am on day 16 and was so happy to try tuna and an egg couple of days ago. I dropped my kids off at school and thought I was going to truly enjoy my scrambled egg. I took a few bites and needed to lay down afterwards...the same with the tuna. I was in pain almost the entire day. Most of today, I have had only liquid Proteins. I tried the tuna again with the same results. In my mind I want it, but it’s like I cannot physically tolerate it yet. I go back to work next week and am not sure what I am going to do.

It will get better. I dont think I tried tuna till I was a month post-op. eith time you can increase volume. Now I could comfortably eat a tuna packet, although that's my max. You will get there and it will be more enjoyable. good luck!

I'm on my third week and i too tried scrambled egg. OMG! I was so ill, same with soft cheese. I salivated no end, my jaw ached it was so weird! I threw up in the end. Obviously not ready. I tried a little porridge today that seems ok but literally just a couple of tablespoons.

The whole wanted to eat thing is weird especially savoury stuff but then after a couple of bites you don't want anymore. I found sucking on Wotsits was nice as they just disolve in your mouth.

I want, in theory either Chinese or other Asian foodm Maybe even Indiann our last one of those seem to have left town. only exotic we seem to retain are Italian, a Japanese Steakhouse , Mexican and 3 different Chinese ones. Oddl, we have just a few Chinese, Indian Doctors, quite a few, wish one of their wives or another family, member would just -re-open one. Odder yet, they have to speak English to each other , nobody has another language in common. One,even looks Chinese,or what I think someone from Mongolia might look like, maybe from NE India, near the border? All the rest seem to be medium or dark complexion except him, a definite yellow sub-tint. Nice gut, though, seems yo know Urology pretty Good.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
