I AM NOT Sure if i did the right decision or not (gastric Plication surgery)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

All my life I had issue with food it was the only thing I do if I am stress or emotional I always feel better after, in 2017 i was 140 lb I did the ballon and I only lost 8.8 lb, wasn’t really in control of myself in terms of food and drinks. in a year and half I gain 4.4 lb so I was 136 lb I did the gastric Plication last Saturday 27 April been promised by the dr that the pain is less then the ballon and I can leave same day. I was dying I was so much in pain I had to stay the night in hospital and left the next day but went again to emergency the next day for the pain. I have been out 5 days ago and I am still in pain :(. I feel hungry and tired all time. I am also craving food all the time. The nutrition and doctor Are giving me different answers of what I should and shouldn’t eat.

For example I asked if I can have a Cappuccino with no sugar my nutrition said okay as long as it’s skinny milk but my doctor said no. An hour after I asked if I can have a very small spoon of ice cream free sugar to get energy my doctor allow it but nuturation don’t.

So they are not alright in what I should eat and not.

Now I feel bad with all the pain, money and hassle I have been too. Is it worth it??

i really don’t know what do with the hunger I have and the pain?!

Please write me from your experience some tips and advices.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
