I think it’s very normal to feel fear. Before surgery I would fear of dying on the table or from a leak, infection, or complication. But I kept telling myself that it’s more pron for me to die from obesity than the surgery itself. The day of surgery I was nervous but extremely excited.. don’t worry you will do great! Best decision I have ever made for myself and I’m so happy with it all 😁

Did they give you anything the day of surgery to make you feel more relaxed?

No they didn’t, but what I did tell one of the nurses that was going to be with me in surgery how I was scared and she was the nicest person ever! She really calmed me down and made me feel safe.. when I got to the table everyone in there were so friendly and were super talkative I thought they were just getting things ready but they were really distracting me and next thing you know I woke up from surgery, I didn’t even realize when they put me to sleep

A little fear, a little disquieted, that's cool, Just don't let Fear tuck you into his hind picket and keep you there. You were not made to be Fearful but Victorious, remember that and you will make IT so!

I was feeling the same exact thing before my surgery. Thankfully everything went well. I'm sure it will go well for you too! 😄

Feel the fear and do it anyway. That’s how I get through those moments. I’m sure you will be fine x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
