But they are not gonna, that messes up your surgeon's record as well as YOU, so they have a more than vested interest in keeping you SAFE.

Surgery went very well and the staff has made recovery as well as possible. I've been sleeping a lot but they were always good to remind me to get up and walk. Several times I didnt want to but I did it and then went right back to sleep. They also give us a spirometer to use to stimulate your lungs since they were also relaxed with the anesthesia. The hotel real is really nice-kinda felt like a bum coming in in my sweat pants and t-shirt but the staff has been very helpful. We are staying an extra two days since I didnt want to fly 7 hours home 3 days after surgery. Let me know if you have any questions!

Had gastric sleeve may 3rd. Allot of gas pain in back and shoulders 1st night. Only took pain meds 1st 24 hrs. Doing good and just alittle sore in the belly area. My question is to know when I have dranked enough Protein Shake or Soup at a meal. Do not want to pop stiches inside. Please send feedback ..

mine was on may 1st and i am figuring it out as well. i'm not permitted to have shakes until one week after so i'm just on Clear Liquids. i sip Water constantly but do notice that the broth sits heavier. I can drink about one cup of broth and then feel satisfied (physically, not mentally). I'm sure everyone is different but i can't imaging being able to drink more than 8 oz of broth of Protein Shake before feeling full. But, I'm no expert!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
