I had my surgery on 3/20, on the day of my surgery I was already on my period. This would be the first one since. I have always had really heavy miserable ☹️ periods. This on here is something I have never had. So far this morning I have had to change clothes twice and only been up for about 2 hours. I have large blood clots, cramps out of this world. And have to reclean the bathroom every time I go because of the blood. Any suggestions??

This may be a TMI question, but I'll ask it anyways, but feel free not to answer, of course. Are you using pads, tampons, a diva cup, etc? If you tried tampons, it would probably be less messy. I have period issues too, girl, so I feel you. Mine aren't heavy, but I've been bleeding for a month straight, which is no fun. My Gyno and I are working on a solution though.

I use pads. Going to get some overnight pads. I bleed through the tampon so I stopped using them. Hopefully this will be the only time I have to deal with this. Thanks for your response.

Yes!! I normally have no big deal every month. Then I had one a month after surgery. OMG!!! I thought I would need to get a transfusion. I t was worse that after delivering a baby. From what I have read that's common but it gets better after a few months.

I did make sure I got extra Protein and fluids. So now anticipating the next cycle I have already increased my calories and Proteins. I was exhausted last month. I didn't leave the house for 48 hours. It only lasted 2-3 days heavy and gone by 4-5 days.

I'll up my Protein too to see if that works. Like you I'm drained hopefully this works.

I went thru the same thing!! I had to buy the overnight pads and just limit my movements. Heating pad was my bff for the first couple of days. It does get better! I know sometimes birth control can help after surgery with period flows. Might want to talk to you dr to see if that is a good option for you. Crossing my fingers that it gets better!!

Hey ladies! I have another period related question. I got my period normally the first month after the op, but haven't seen it since? (I'm a total of 2.5 months post-op, so my period is 16 days late at this point). Has this happened to anyone? I know it's fairly normal for your period to be late when there are changes going on with your body, but I've been losing slowly and at a steady pace so I don't feel like it's *that* much of a shock to the system.

Did anyone else's period go MIA and for how long?

PS: I'm not pregnant :D

I too am behind on my period and would love to know if thats normal? Anyone else have endometriosis as well as the sleeve. I have heard the sleeve has helped people with Endo.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
