Pre-Operative Diet Question

Recommended Posts

I've been following the pre-op diet very carefully but have questions about the diet. I've continued to fall below the 800 calorie per day quota and 30 max carbs. I do exceed the Protein requirement by a great deal. Is this normal? Has anyone else had a hard time keeping to this diet? I don't cheat at all, no desire to actually. Just worried about the numbers not matching.... I'm scheduled for the 26th and don't want to get rescheduled! If I eat more calories, my protien will increase also...

You'll be fine. The point is to shrink your liver on a low carb, low fat diet. If you really have questions you need to contact your surgeon's office. Good luck on your surgery, and good job not cheating!!

Protein's not gonna hurt you. The main point is to shrink your liver, which you're doing on low-cal and low-fat diet pre-op.

I am having a really hard time on this diet as well! I am just trying to trust the process right now. I think that even if the scale doesnt move much, it really depends on how your liver looks! Good luck on your surgery and please keep us posted on the outcome.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
