oh you're not the only one, look at some of the other threads. There's one fairly recent about being years out and weight is starting to creep back in. Foget the exact title , just saw it a moment ago.

Yes, but that's weight creeping BACK IN. I only lost 35#'s after RNY and still there. Not the same. But thank you, friend. 😊

How are you? I'm working 3rd shift as a security officer right now. Bored. 2:45 AM here.

I haven’t failed, but I have gained ten pounds five years out and it’s a struggle every day not to gain more. Part of my issue is a fairly high inhaled steroid for asthma a nd the need for other steroids this year for the same asthma.

so I just keep trying every day it’s all that we can do.

I'll be 5 years post VSG this month. I lost about 80# initially-give or take...stress, life etc and I regained almost 40. Went strict Keto and lost that regain. But i'm still wavering with about 25 lbs to go until my ultimate goal. It's a serious marathon here, but I feel like at least I'm still working at it...

Update:

I'm actually back on the wagon now! My husband and I now have a little more money each week to purchase healthy foods, fruit and vegetables. We've turned our eating style completely around and have been working on it together, one day at a time. I actually taste foods differently, they're far more [flavorful] and exciting to eat. I actually look forward to designing, making and eating newer foods and flavors. It's a very odd feeling. I haven't even been able to discuss any of this with my therapist yet! Haven't seen her lately. But I plan on making my recovery a major topic as I still have a lot of mental health issues and food issues to work on. Slow and steady wins the race! So far, I've definitely lost 20 pounds. I *thought* I'd lost more, but my digital scale went on the fritz. I'll weigh myself at the doctor's office in a few months. It's hard not knowing, but I also dont want to live by the scale. I'm eating healthy and properly so I have faith. Also, I use MFP every day and it helps SO much! And my hubby, well, I couldn't ask for a better LIFE partner! Hes doing very well also. I never thought this could happen but it is. I'm very, very proud of myself and hubby.

So, it can and has been done! WOWZA!

Wow, 20 pounds and back on track! You are inspirational.

I hope you stay on this site because you are not alone. I wish there was one thread that could adress regain issues instead of sifting through all the other regain posts. Most here are new and in the honeymoon phase and cant relate.

You have not failed. We are all a work in progress. You are the proof this can be done.

Thank your dear, sweet heart Deedee12! I am pretty darned proud. Very, very, very surprised though. I haven't had the right mindset since I was a year out and I never, ever thought I'd get it back but I did! I learned A LOT from Dr. Agatstons book on the South Beach Diet, as well as a dozen other places. I'm back in the saddle again! Thanks for rooting for me! Hugs!!!

Bless you Healthy_life2! I'm pretty excited and hopeful. I know what you mean about having a thread specifically for re-gainers and the like. For the longest time I'd dream of reading a post that was similar to my story. Many were close, but not close enough for my taste. We're everywhere on here, but you have to really look. There really should be a specific thread, I agree.

I like how you wrote "you are proof this can be done." I guess I am! Yes, I believe so! Thank you so very much for lifting my Spirits even further. You GO girl!

        What state are you in????

Officially no longer over weight! Goal #1 reached! I'm now under 80kgs (176 lbs) at 179cm (5'10") and 10 months post-op and am over the moon. My weight at 79.9 kgs (176 lbs) gives me a BMI of 24.9 which means that I have a normal weight! OMG.
I still want to lose about 16 lbs more though in order to get safely into the middle range to insure against that little regain that happens. The I have maintenence in front of me as well.
BUT I have hit my first goal. Yeah me!!!

Fantastic! That's such a great goal to reach and one I hope to get to this year as well.

I had my gastric sleeve done September 10, 2020... I started out 330# before surgery.... I'm down to 260# now... I've been stalled out for over two months now.... I exercise when I can (Bad back/knees)... I follow my diet , get my protein and drink my water... But still not losing any weight... I've done everything I can think of to break the stall.... Even went back to liquid diet....  Sometimes I think this was a mistake having the surgery...

sorry to hear that don't feel down. Maybe a reset meaning something new. I am in the process of having the surgery a second time. I had Lapland in 2012 removed in 2018 and I have gained everything back and some. When I stalled on lapband I had to do something new for me I joined a free boot camp and Zumba and then boom dropped 38 pounds in 2 months. I know you said bad back and knees so find something with your limits. But I think try something new I stalled for 8 months

Happy anniversary to me - well almost. Friday marks the one yr anniversary of asking my GP if she thought I’d be a candidate for WLS.
What an exciting, sometimes frustrating but ultimately rewarding journey. I’ve lost 40kg or about 40% of my body weight & am below my goal weight. Some days I  just can’t believe where I am now from where I was 12 months ago. I never imagined this reality.
I am grateful for the encouragement I received from family & friends. I am grateful I have a supportive GP. They helped smooth the rough patches & kept me on track. I’m also grateful for this site. The information & support has been so helpful & eased many worries.
I’m still sorting out maintenance (what works one week doesn’t the next) but I’m up for the challenge.
