Psych eval question....

Recommended Posts

Psych eval went great. It was def more of an eval that I expected it should be and from what I have read from everyone’s experience on here. I just had about 3 papers of 20 questions to fill out and then about an hour of face to face talk. She asked a little of everything all the way back from my childhood through high school and up. And of course why I want this and how I think it will work and the complications I might think could arise or the challenges... stuff like that. I asked at the end jokingly if I passed and she said yes but then she said it’s actually not up to her...🤷‍♀️ I asked if she meant the insurance but she said she said it ultimately goes to someone else that looks at everything but she really wasn’t sure who that was.... not sure if she was talking just about the psych part??? Does anyone know what she meant??

Any of us would just guess. Instead, try contacting the person who said it & ask that person to clarify. Good luck!

I've seen people on here talk about the Psych Eval and questionnaires, but I don't remember any of that. My psychiatrist that I regularly see for Depression signed off on a clearance form for me and I met with the behavioral health person at the surgeon's office for like 15-20 minutes, but I don't really remember anything about questionnaires or worrying. She just wanted to make sure I would be able to follow the diet after surgery and wasn't in denial or unrealistic about my expectations for surgery results.

My first psych exam , the one for the abortive first program, the one I went through twice and then denied, I remember one real winner "Do you hate your mother and how many years have you felt. that way? " Now I concede my relationship with my mama wasn't perfect, sometimes we were differing in opinions on things, but I loved her and I believe, to the best of her ability, she loved me in return. So what a Sh***y thing to ask somebody. Told my Dr Kramer who was evaluating me for OSU about that, he looked at me ,shocked, and said OMG are they still using that form? That one went out with the dinosaurs! I would NEVER ask such a thing, at least not at first encounter. If later in therapy my patient/client expressed that ,we might discuss it, but it certainly should not have been a screening question!📝

In my experience the psychiatrist usually has the questionnaire sent out to be evaluated. And the ultimate decision comes down to the surgeon I believe. Ask your surgeon's office to let you know that everything worked out. Good luck to you!!

i actually was thinking it had something to do with the questionnaires as well too and my surgeons office going over them. I was going to wait until I receive a copy of the letter from the psychiatrist, so this way I know she wrote it up and sent it to my surgeons office as before I contact them. This way I’ll ask if everything is ok and also find out when to make my next apt with my surgeon since I don’t have one scheduled right now.

Some can be real winners. I would’ve looked at her and asked wth that had to do with Bariatric surgery! Lol

You are correct, it was a female! I should have let my Red hair take over and expressed just how offensive I found such a question. She was a real piece of work, wasn't she!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
