How long between “meals”

Recommended Posts

I’m 3 1/2 weeks post bypass. I ate about 3 oz of fish and 3 hours later tried 1/4 c rectors Beans. I got ill and had the foamier. Never want to do that again. It was so painful!! I think it’s because I ate the beans too quickly (I have had them a few times last week without issues.

Is it possible I still had the fish in my stomach from 3 hours before. How long does it take fir food to leave the new stomach? I have heard Water and yogurt move quickly within minutes.

Just curious, but are those your surgeon's instructions? I know all surgeons are different, but I will still be on pureed food at 3 1/2 weeks, and can't eat solid regular food for 7 weeks. Maybe your new pouch is telling you it is too soon for such heavy food. Now, if it is on your plan, maybe you ate too quickly or too much volume. Good luck, and I hope it doesnt happen again!

Anytime you get the foamies it means you're eating something your stomach isn't ready for. I eat about every 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
