I’m 6 (almost 7) months post op. The last few weeks I’ve been experiencing some strange symptoms. My chest hurts when I exhort too much energy, my arm gets numb. I’m extremely tired, can’t walk for long without becoming light headed 🥴 it’s been getting better (the doctor put me on a steroid after running every test in the books) they helped. I ran out and I started becoming shaky while at the store. So I did something I don’t typically do. I bought a Reese’s and ate one and the shaking stopped pretty quickly. Got me thinking that maybe everything has to do with my blood sugar. Every single symptom is listed for hypoglycemia. Has anyone experienced this?

I've been getting lightheaded but assumed it was blood pressure. I hadn't thought about eating something to make it better. Ask your surgeon.

I’m at the doctors now they just pricked my finger. I’m on a drug that lowers blood sugar and haven’t been eating much sugar because of the surgery. So they think this might be the correct diagnosis.

Your symptoms sound classic and your dr ruled out other factors. I was glycemic years ago. They make hypoglycemic tabs available in most pharmacies you can carry with you. They may have perfected the tests but I never tested positive. The test is (or was at least) based on the premise that my blood sugar dropped in the time frame they came in and tested it. Good luck! You will feel so much better now that you know what’s going on and can knick those episodes as soon as they start

Good to know the correct diagnosis. Now you can take care of yourself. Good luck!

Finished my appt. my blood sugar was low. My husband gave me a kit Kat (has 22g sugar in it) ate that and feel much better now. Going to the store and going to pick up some apple juice and maybe something else like a couple bananas. That’ll help me a ton.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
