June 2019 sleevers

Recommended Posts

I had the lap band for 10 years, it worked for about 8. I had it removed last year and then after being diagnosed with sleep apnea, my insurance said I met their standards for coverage. I couldn't afford to pay for it myself as I'm retired and paid for my band surgery. Just hoping all goes well for you and keep us posted.

Have jumped through all the insurance hoops, My surgery date is 6-12-2019 pending insurance approval, don't see any issues with approval since this is a revision due to complications of the lap band. Looking forward to finally feeling better and losing weight. My lap band has a slip and rather than fix it, my surgeon recommended a revision to the sleeve. Lost 50 lbs with the lap band, but slowly gained back most of my weight that I lost, although I did keep the 50lbs off for over 10 years. Looking forward to finally dropping this weight and keeping it off. Any pointers or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The band I called "Lola" was really good for about 5 years then nothing but problems for about 3. When I went in to have it removed the nurse said I had it longer than anyone else. Not comforting. Now going through the steps to get the sleeve. I'm struggling with the weight.

I'm having mine on June 5th. I got insurance approval back in March, but I had a bunch of things coming up that would have gotten in the way. So, I'm sitting here, anxious as can be. All the insurance hoops you have to jump through are annoying. If I hadn't had to do that, I would have had it last year when I was just under my out of pocket max. It would have cost me 300 bucks total. Oh well, moving forward, just a few more weeks. Good luck everyone.

My surgery is scheduled for the 22nd!

I am having a revision from the band. I dont know until after the surgery if they are able to remove the band and sleeve me in the same surgery. SO hoping he is able to do it at the same time, but am honestly just more excited about getting this damn band out!

Just had my VSG last Monday 5/6. I lost 60+ lbs on my own before my final pre-op consultation so my dr. let me slide a week on the two week pre-op diet. The operation went smoothly, no issues other than some soreness and nausea that went away in a few days. Got through the first week of the post-op clear liquid diet and am now on full liquids. Dropped only a couple of pounds in the last week, hoping to see more progress soon. Good luck everyone!

I’m soooo soooo nervous about my upcoming surgery on June 20th. Today I have a final appointment with the nutritionist. I assume to talk about the pre-op and post-op diets. I have to get my bloodwork this Saturday. I have to see my primary care physician June 3rd for her clearance. I think I start my liquid diet June 6th. See my surgeon June 10th for pre-op appointment. Then my surgery, June 20th. It’s coming so fast! 🤯

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
