My insurance required me to do a
6 month class before moving forward with surgery. I finished January 16th, I saw the surgeon February 19th for consult, and my surgery was scheduled that same week for April 12th. Roughly 3 months.

I started my preop in October but I stretch out my appointments out. My insurance requires 4 consecutive visit with the surgeon or 6 visits with PCP (I choose the 4 visit with surgeon) in addition 3 consecutive visit with dietitian. Plus the other requirements for the surgery, sleep study, endoscopy, cardiology, Psychology, physiatrist and letter from PCP.

I started eating better about one month ago, no, sugar, coffee, or salty food. I am on BP medication and since I cut out the junk my pressure reads normal for the first time in 5 months. I will have a surgery date in 2 weeks.

Good luck to you.

I had to loose 10% of my weight in 6 months. I weighed in after 6 months and had my surgery 3 weeks after confirmation of my 10% weight loss (about 8 months total wait). The programs that make you wait a long time are frustrating but you are way more prepared than those that are fast tracked. After waiting 6 to 8 months like I did, you don't experience the buyers remorse like a lot of unprepared people do. Take the time to educate yourself and nothing will come as a surprise.

I start my 3 month diet oct 11th, finished with the dietitian Jan 15th. My consultation with the surgeon was Jan 17th and waited 3 weeks for insurance approval. My surgery is scheduled for March 29th. So about a little more than 5 months I will have waited.

My insurance (UHC) required a 6 month waiting period, monthly nutritionist visits, 1 psychiatric evaluation, a monthly check in at the surgeon and one cardiologist visit (which I think was for no reason, I have no heart issues -_- DUMB

2 week liquid pre-op diet got 24 lbs off me, other than that, honestly no weight really had to be lost before the pre-op. My weight fluctuated before hand up and down.

But all in all, I started the process in April in 2018 and Sleeved in October 2018.

It's just going to depend on your insurance. My insurance company required that I be under my surgeon's supervised weigh loss plan for 6 months before surgery.

My insurance required certain things, my surgeon’s office others. It’s been a bit over 6 months and I’m just waiting on my insurance approval now. It went by pretty quickly.

My first appointment was Jan 18th and my RNY is scheduled for Mar 25th. My insurance only required a psych Evaluation and one Dietician appt. My surgeon required an endoscopy, at home sleep study, and stress test.
Best of luck to you and this journey to getting your health back.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
