Worried about getting out of chair Post-Op

Sorry this is a weird question but it takes a lot of muscle to get out of my big and tall recliner now.

I was just wondering if that will be dangerous post-op ? What precautions should I take ? Has anyone else been through this ?

My Granny Ada Blanche, may she rest in peace, had a saying " The Good Lord didn't ever make an itch, he didn't make a scratcher to fit it!" Translation- there is always an answer if you search for it. Check Medical Supply stores, are you a Veteran? Check with your county VA office, in my community both the Moose and Ambers have wheelchairs and such things, my uncle was a Moose and was able to get the loan of a lift chair, he was smaller but still had need of one. Maybe even your county Human Services could link you up with one. There are a lot of answers , I got my C Pao machine through Lincare, I recommend them highly for adaptive equipment. If one place turns you down ask them if they could suggest someone else. This is YOU you're fighting for, you deserve the best you can find! They have larger lift chairs. Measure sat width you need and place a few calls. Bet t would work!

Every time I climb into my high bed, I wonder if I would have problems getting in and out after my surgery. I think I will stay in one of my kids room should I experience any issues.

For me, the pain went away after 2-3 days...after that it was mostly just sore and annoying. Then after about 1.5 weeks there was no soreness at all. I also had a pillow with me to hold against my abdomen for comfort (especially when I had to sneeze or laugh).

I've read others have said they had very little pain, so it will vary from person to person.

I didn’t get in our recliner for that reason and ours doesn’t have a lever to put the foot down so it’s all stomach and legs pushing it!
I camped on the couch and put a dining room chair with side arms on it next to me sideways. It was the perfect height to use to help push myself upright, similar to the sides of the hospital bed. I tried a cane but it was too tall for leverage.
And yes!! The small pillow for coughs, sneezes etc is a must!

It is tough to get out of recliners, but there is some technique to it. Get your heels as far back as you possibly can and lean as far forward as possible before you try to rise.

Don't let your mind write checks your body can't cash. Wasn't a recliner but another comfy living room chair, took my walker and Tomkitten to pry me up and out, I was shaking l8je a half- froze dog before it was all over! Just Warning!

I stuck to the sofa but if you slide as far forward as you can before rising should be ok. getting out of bed was a definite ROLL

Sitting was more painful for me than standing and getting into bed was the worst. But I managed and the worst of the pain was over in about 3-4 days home. I still have minor right side pain and I’m 8 days post op VGS

It's painful first couple days post op, same with getting in and out of bed. I ended up sleeping sitting up in a chair for a about a week post o. The one thing that kind of helped standing up is I would hold a firm pillow against my stomach when I stood up. IDK if it actually helped or if it was all psychological but it helped me!
