Pureed Stage + No Meats?? Gastric Sleeve Patient

Recommended Posts

I did not puree either of these. Ate them as they are, straight from the container. Oh, and if you're tired of the sweet things and dying for something savory, there are savory Protein Drinks out there. My go-to was Unjury chicken Soup. It's high in sodium, but it's a welcome change from the sweet milkshakes. Unjury just came out with a Santa Fe Chili. I got a sample packet in my last order, but haven't tried it.
Thank you so much for the help!

I hate that whey Protein flavour too. Have very sensitive taste. How do you get on with milk? I had 300ml semi-skim or 1% with 30g skim milk powder and no added sugar milkshake flavor or Decaf coffee espresso shot. Sipped over time

That combo gives approx 22g protein and counts towards Fluid intake. At this stage sounds like any way to keep you nourished is the right idea.

I get on with skim milk okay. It seems to stay down not much pain. Thank you for the advice. Definitely gonna try that!

Google is your friend. There are plenty of recipe ideas and meal plans on the internets that are for the purée stage of recovery. I made a ricotta bake without meat just sauce and cheese and it was great. My kids even liked it. Do you have a blender? You can make your own purées as well.

I ate a lot of refried beans; sometimes to change up the taste I put some taco seasoning in. I also used a manual food chopper to cut up canned green Beans really small, then I kind of smashed them up. Baby food was on my list of foods but I never tried it.

YEP! this was my go to as well. also lots of tuna and eggs.

Love this thread because as of today I am 13 days out and can start purées
Today I bought low-fat cottage cheese, plain hummus, ham salad, eggs, and cauliflower rice.
Had 1/4 cup cottage cheese and it went down with no probs. Was gonna eat a spoonful or two of hummus, but I got full.
For dinner I plan on frizzling up the cauli-rice with some of my Protein cream of mushroom Soup (protein boost) and having half a soft-boiled egg with it.
Tomorrow morning I’ll have the second half of the egg with a 1/4 cup ham salad.
I was struggling so hard in the liquid phase because I really don’t care for “sweet” and I was sick and tired of Protein Shakes and the like.
I was also getting a bit tired of the savory Soups because they always left my mouth feeling a bit “fuzzy” after eating them.
Sooooooo glad to be eating REAL food again, even if the menu is somewhat restricted

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
