Gastric sleeve and fibromyalgia

Hello all. I am new to the forum and am in the beginning stages of the surgery process. I have chosen the sleeve and have seen the required psychologist. I will still need to see the nutritionist.

I'd like to know if there are any fibromyalgia sufferers who have had the sleeve surgery? I am worried about how living with this condition may negatively impact my success. Any thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I have Fibro as well, I had my surgery in August 2018, down 55 lbs. I have had a few flare ups but not as many as I use to. Mostly in my hands and arm area. Some days I have fatigue but other days I have more energy then I ever had, I feel the surgery helps a lot, I was nervous as well before surgery.

What about your weight loss? And does your pain and fatigue make it difficult to do everything you need to do with the drinking and food prep and excercise?

I think the Lyrica has stalled my weight loss and I don't feel like it is helping at all with the pain. Not sure if it takes awhile to work but have been on a couple of weeks with no relief and yucky side effects. Pain and fatigue do make it difficult to to do food prep and exercise - I just have to make myself do it as I want to be successful.

I am also a fibromyalgia and lupus patient I am having the sleeve February 5th. I have numerous meds to take. How do you all deal with getting all of it in. The gabapentin and cymbals are large capsules. I appreciate any feedback or ideas

I am not able to take capsules and so I open these up and mix them in Water and drink it. This is what the nurse did for me in the hospital. pills bigger then an aspirin as long as they are not ER - extended relief I crush and mix with water and drink. I am not allowed to swallow capsules until I am 6 weeks out from surgery. I don't feel like getting all of my meds in has been a problem since I am mostly mixing with water which makes them go down easier.

Hey October Surgery friends...how are you doing? I've lost 15 lbs since surgery on 18th.42 lbs overall. Wearing clothes that feel great. Had a bout of cold and stomach flu and still having some nausea off and on after that but getting better, I think.
Seems like I fill up and have minor pain quicker when I eat hot foods rather than cold. Anyone else notice this?
Still sooo glad I did this.

I had surgery Oct 29. Lost 35#. Plateau now. But seeing what clothes fit now is encouraging.

Hi I just saw that you are in Las Vegas too. We are going to the same center. Dr Laduc in same office as Dr Atkinson, is doing my sleeve on Nov. 28th.  I wish you the best!
